Surnames: HENDRICKS, LYONS Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/4EC.2ACE/833 Message Board Post: >From the Melrose Chronicle [Melrose, Jackson County, Wisconsin], Friday May 31, 1912, Page 4 H. F. Lyons, better known as Frank, one of the pioneer barbers of this city, died at the county home this morning of stomach trouble and a complication of other diseases. He had been at the home but a few days. Frank was born in bondage at Georgetown, Kentucky, and after the war was brought north by some soldiers to Sparta, where he commenced to learn barbering. In 1868 he came to Black River Falls to work in the William West Hendricks shop. Then he went into business for himself on Water Street, and in the early seventies bought and remodeled a building, which was his shop and home from that time until the flood swept it away, leaving him with practically nothing but the clothes he wore on his back. He gave his age as 58 years, though some of his friends are disposed to think that he was two or three years older than that. Submitter: Joan M Benner <jmbenner@tznet.com> Coordinator Adams Co.
