They joined the early settlers at St. Mary's Ridge, and farmed in Ridgeville Twp. (1860 Census: "Robert Colgrave") and later in Jefferson Twp. Hubert and Anna Maria Kohlgraf brought their family from Sinsteden, near Rommerskirchen (Germany) to the USA in 1857. They had five children: Catharina, married John Feilbach and lived in WI; Gerhard, married Elisabeth Ross in 1871and lived in Chicago, IL changed his name to George Kolegraff); Christina, married Joseph Gross in 1872 and lived in MN and later in Cascade, IA; Philipp, married Mary Deming in 1878 and lived in Wabasha County, MN, and later in Hand and Faulk Counties, SD (Changed his name to Philip Kolegraff); Adam, married Katherine Edrich, and lived in Spink Co., SD, and later in ND. Alternate spellings: Kollgraff, Kolgraff, Kolegraff, Kohlgraff, Kolgraf, Collgraff, Kolgraf, Colcraft, Kolcraft, Kulgraph, Colgrave! I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has info for this surname. I have information to share on individuals in several generations (and branches!) of this family. Thank you!
