Definately check with Audrey at the Monroe County History room. Recently, a retired teacher (Julia Middleman, I think her name is) published a historical booklet about the school systems here in the county. I do also know that there is an older historical book about Monroe County, dated in the early 1900's, that contained a section about all the rural schools in the county. I'm sure that the History Room would have both. I've never actually saw Julia's booklet, only read about it in the Sparta paper, and the copy of the book I saw was at the High School Library, but may have been personal property of that librarian, who has since retired. If Audrey doesn't have the book, let me know,and I could probably borrow it from either the high school library (I'm a school employee), or I could give Mrs. Perry a call.
