Walworth Co. is in the far south-east corner of Wisconsin. Jane and Thomas Flinn were married in East Troy, Walworth Co. in 1856. By 1860 they were in Kansas and eventually returned to WI and settled near Eau Claire. Jane's marriage and death records only give Ireland as her birthplace. It was always the family story that she was from Co. Wicklow. I have absolutely no proof. In the censuses (1860-1870-1900-1910) I have found Patrick, Peter, Hugh, John, Mary, William,James Kerrigan, no Jane, so I'm trying to follow collateral lines. Thanks again.

Thanks for the e-mail! I don't know of a connection to Jane Kerrigan and husband Thomas Flinn. Where exactly is Walworth Co. located? Is it close to Monroe Co.? I know there are many Co. Mayo families in Juneau, Sauk and Monroe counties. Could Jane have been from Co. Mayo and that's why you haven't found her in Wicklow? How certain are you about the Wicklow connection? I've been working on these lines for many years, but still have many gaps to fill. Have you checked the 1880 census or other census records for them? Look up familysearch.org and that will give you access to the 1880 census nationwide. I hope you can locate more helpful info. Let me know how I can help! Other surnames in my research include: Barrett, Baines/Banes, Corrigan, Coughlin, Kerrigan, Kilbane, Gallagher, Mc Cann, Mc Ginty, Mc Hugh, just to name a few. As far as I know our bunch was from Co. Mayo (Ballycroy area and Achill Island). Good luck! Joni

She supposedly came from Co. Wicklow but I haven't found her there. In hopes that other Kerrigans in Walworth Co. were related, I have followed a Patrick Kerrigan, wife Bridget and two children from Walworth Co. in 1860 to Monroe Co. in 1870. There I found your Peter Kerrigan also, and wondered if they were related. They each had a child born in Connecticut in the late 1850's, Do you have any information about any relatives in Wisconsin or about where they came from in Ireland? I am trying to get around this big brick wall! Thanks for any information.

Dear Listers, Just wanted to pass along some helpful hints for sending me requests for searches. I have found that if you provide me with some or all of the following then the search is quite more successful. NAME (including middle initial if possible) MAIDEN NAME & MARRIED NAME (including spouses name if known) DATE OF DEATH (at least approximate) DATE OF BIRTH (if known) TOWN OF LOCATION (last known) If you do not have any these, please provide what you do have. Any little bit helps and will give you better results. I have received many requests over the past few days and have had quite a lot of success. Thanks to all of you and Happy New Year!
