I had suspected there were more in the family, as christening records list daughters born to John and Elizabeth, but both are common first names and there seemed to be a ton of Busses in that area. Do you know if any of the daughters and families came to America? Family legend says that 5 brothers came to Buffalo NY. I have not been able to find anything about one named James, and neither has anyone else that I know who is researching the family. There is also a mysterious George Buss who came from Kent to NY to Wisconsin to Kansas and ended up in British Columbia.I am sure he must be related but have been unable to find the connection. I am also interested in the Jennings family of Mary Ann Jennings Cowell Buss. If I can help you in any way, I am willing to share info. Marion

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/5538/4EC.2ACE/593.3.1.2.2.1 Message Board Post: Marion, As I understand it, Abraham was one of twelve children born in Pluckley to John Buss (b. 1764) and Elizabeth Beenge, between 1786 and 1809 as follows - Elizabeth, Frances (m. Thomas Back), John (m. Judith from Ireland), William (m. Catherine Baldock), Mary, Phoebe, Thomas who was the vet in Pluckley that I referred to in a previous post (m. Elizabeth Bolton), Richard (m. Catherine Bradford), Sarah, Celia, your Abraham and finally Samuel - middle name "Daniel" (m. Charlotte Bates). The parents of John Buss (b. 1764) were John Buss and Elizabeth Kingsnorth. After the death of Elizabeth Kingsnorth, John re-married, and I'm descended from his second wife, Mary - with the complications that this entails! I've ordered the microfilm for the Pluckley PRs from 1560 which should help to unravel some queries. Ken

She was born about 1892, married Arthur Day in 1912 and died in April 1925 in a car/train accident. They lived near Tomah. She was my great-grandmother. I would like to know where she was born and raised. I would like to know who her parents were and where they came from. I've tried my hand at FamilySearch and Ancestry.com with no luck finding her other than 1920 census. I'm wondering if this is not quite her maiden name. Any help would surely be appreciated.

    3. University of Wisconsin Digital Collections http://uwdc.library.wisc.edu/collections.html University of Wisconsin Digital Collections is pleased to announce a new digital collection, the Taylor Brothers Photograph Collection, now online and available for public use. The photographic images in this collection were taken by the Taylor Brothers photographic studio of Adams County, Wisconsin, circa 1910-1930. URL is http://webcat.library.wisc.edu:3200/WI/ Growth and change in rural and small town Wisconsin in the early 20th century are reflected in the photos of the Taylor Brothers. Most of the photos were taken in central Wisconsin, centering on Adams County and the county seat of Friendship. Subjects are varied and include towns, buildings and street scenes in Adams County; construction and dedication of a new county courthouse; teachers, classes, and one-room school houses; marsh dredging; road construction; farmsteads, animals, and agricultural activities. Portraits of people include men, women, children and families; some in formal poses in a studio, others taken at their residences, farms, or businesses. The portraits include images of Native Americans, mostly members of the Ho-Chunk nation, some of which are individually identified. Scenes outside of Adams County include Wisconsin State Guard training, circa 1913-1916, at Camp Williams and Camp Douglas in Juneau County, Camp McCoy in Monroe County, and a few at Camp Dodge in Polk County, Iowa. There are also views of the construction of the Kilbourn dam on the Wisconsin River, at what is now the city of Wisconsin Dells, in Columbia County. Of particular historical interest are images of the John Dietz homestead and Cameron dam on the Thornapple River in Sawyer County, taken after a shootout in 1910 between Dietz and a sheriffs posse, the result of a six-year property and water rights conflict between Dietz and lumber companies. Please feel free to pass on this email/information to anyone interested in Adams County, Wisconsin historical photographs. Surnames: HANSON, NILSDATTER Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/4EC.2ACE/743.1 Message Board Post: I appreciate the earlier email about this family. Let me clarify this for you. This family was in the Coon Valley, Bad Ax or Vernon, Wisconsin area in 1860 and 1870. He appears in Jefferson Township in Monroe County Wisconsin in 1880. I do not find any references to him being alive in 1900. Therefore, I was interested in finding out if He(Ellef) died in Monroe County Wisconsin and if any of his children possibly show up in Monroe County Wisconsin vital records for this county. Marriages Etc. I would like to see if there is any vital information in Vernon County Wisconsin too. Here is his family. Elleff Hanson b. 1824 in Gausdal, Norway. Came here in 1856 and settled in Coon Valley Wisconsin along with his brother Hans Henrik Hanson. Ellef and Hans were twin brothers. Ellef married to Elisabeth Nilsdatter on July 15, 1852 in Gausdal, Norway. Had two children in Norway. Nils Ellefson b. September 29, 1852 and Hans Ellefson b. November 15, 1854. Do not know whether these two son kept the Ellefson surname or went with Hanson or Hansen later. Elisabeth Nilsdatter was born around 1825 in Norway and died between 1868 and 1880 in either Vernon or Monroe County, Wisconsin. Other children of Ellef and Elisabeth Hanson or Hansen. Hannah b. 1857 in Vernon Wisconsin Randina b. looks like March 1859 in Vernon, Wisconsin Martha b. 1863 in Wisconsin Theodore b. 1864 in Wisconsin Carolina b. 1867 in Wisconsin The later kids could have been born in Vernon County Wisconsin. IF someone familar with both Counties mentioned would look up and see if anything comes up. Please let me know. Jeff Jeppson MT. EDEN, KENTUCKY
