I found a picture of a teacher and children (very few children) that was taken in front of a school called WHITE PINE SCHOOL. This had to be in the early 1900's and it was a small rural school with a small bell tower on top. Anyone know where this might have been in Monroe county? One of these children I am sure is my relative, but do not know which one or who. Marilyn
"Might I suggest that you scan the photo and post it to this list.... Someone might just recognize the location, or other people...." You would be better off scanning them to a free website and then posting the address of that site to the list. Happy Digging Catherine Leinbach
Hi Anne, I am also looking for information on a Fred Rogers who married Mary C. Kohn (b.1860) Oct. 20, 1877 in Middleton, WI. I have unconfirmed information that their children were Charley, Louis and Matilda. Matilda Rogers married Martin Olson. I have a vague recollection of them living in the Sparta area. If you think that this is any connection to your Rogers family, I would really appreciate your help. Mary Kohn is my grandfathers sister. Thanks, Karon (Kohn) Hamilton Lodi, Wisconsin ----- Original Message ----- From: "Anne Philiben" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, January 07, 2001 1:56 PM Subject: [WIMONROE] Roll Call > The Monroe county names I am researching are: > ROGERS, CORYELL, and am wondering if anyone has any info on a Guy HOYT who > lived in Sparta ca 1860? Hi: That may have been me. I found this book a while ago at our local LDS Library. It is called "Some Early Pioneers To Wisconsin." It is book number 977.4 or .5. It lists some of the early pioneers, then has a number behind the name of the pioneer. If you find someone to look up, look in the back of the book. The reference number for that person will direct you to someone you can contact by snail mail. I found two of my ancestors in the book and got a positive response from both names. I believe the book was written in 1974 + -, so the reference person may not be alive. I acually found four more families. I hope this works as well for you as it did for me.
