Surnames: BEAN, BRANDT, FRANZ, GROSS, JACKSON, ROSE, SENOGLES, SHUTTER Classification: Biography Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/4EC.2ACE/706 Message Board Post: The Senogles Family History - written by Dave Senogles <senogles@medafor.com> My great, great grandfather Thomas Senogles came to the United States and settled in the Wisconsin territory in the mid 1830?s. An 1840 plat map of Adams County shows the Senogles farm by the village of Lemonweir, Wisconsin (which later became part of Juneau County in 1856). My great grandfather William Jacob Senogles was born in 1848 and later married Jane Rose and moved to a farm in Glendale Township in Monroe County, Wisconsin. They had 6 children: William Mark (1871-19??), Frances (1873-19??), Thomas (1875-19??), John (1878-19??), Eugene (1881-1942) and last but not least, my grandfather, Hiram Herkimer (1886-1968). Hiram followed his older brother William and settled down in Monroe county, Tunnel City, Wisconsin. He married Elzora Brandt and had 9 children with 5 surviving to adulthood. The five that survived were Janie (Shutter), Elzora (Jackson), Lola (Bean), Don and my father Ray. Ray graduated from Tomah High School and went on the University of Wisconsin earning a PhB degree in Accounting in 1942. From 1942 to 1946 he served in the United States Navy as a reserve officer on a destroyer. His ship was lucky enough to sail with the powerful TF 58 with Vice Admiral Marc A. Mitscher as the OTC. Father earned 13 of the 15 possible Pacific Theatre Campaign ribbons awarded during WWII. He also was awarded the Silver Star for commanding a motor whale boat that rescued 13 downed naval airman from certain death, as they floated toward an Japanese ?held island. My father married my mother (Marjorie Franz of Tomah, WI) in 1946 and went to work for Arthur Anderson in Chicago, IL. In 1950 they moved to Latrobe, PA and Dad started work as a financial Controller for Kennametal. I showed up in 1951 and had a younger sister, Susan show up in 1955.We lived in Latrobe until 1968 then moved to St. Cloud, MN where I finished my last year of high school. I graduated from St. Cloud State University with a B. S. degree in Biological Sciences in 1973 and married Patricia Gross. We moved to Omaha, NE where I received a M.A. in Medical Microbiology in 1975,moved back to Minnesota and continued graduate studies at the U of Minnesota. My wife and I currently reside in New Brighton, MN. We have two wonderful sons, Eathan, born in 1980 who is currently a senior at St. Cloud State University and Colin, born in 1982 who is currently a sophomore at U.of Wisconsin, Stout, Menomonie, Dunn Co, WI. My father passed away in 1990, my mother in 1996 and both are buried in the Greenfield Cemetery in Tunnel City, WI. My family has relatives buried at Greenfield Cementery, as well as, the Rose Cementery near Lemonweir in Juneau County Wisconsin.

My source for the name of Joseph Weibel's wife was the obituary of Clemon's sister, Clara Weibel. That obituary listed her parents as Joseph Weibel and Emma Heintz. The obit said, "She was born at St. Mary's Ridge, Town of Sheldon, on December 4, 1899, to Joseph and Emma (Heintz) Weibel. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Emma; three sisters, Katherine Miller, Elizabeth Weibel and Anna Weibel; and five brothers, Edwin, John, Leo, Henry and Clemens Weibel." Clara was born in 1899. Clemens was born in 1863. It seems that Joseph Weibel must have remarried at some point and Clara and Clemons were half siblings.

Most of the Weibel information I have; however, I show that Clemons Weibel was the son of Joseph Weibel and Katherine Kast. Clemons and Anna had nine children. The youngest was Regina. There children were Edward, Mary, Matthew, Theresa, Joseph, Margaret, Isidore, Bertha, and Regina. Matthew was my grandfather.

I did have a source showing the brother Edgar born in Monroe county and if this is the family I'm looking for then Edgar must be the same as the Michael born 1882 in the family you found. By the way, I found the 1880 records no problem but can't find the 1900 census records you cited. Still, it's a maybe. Thanks again.

She was born around 1871 and was married to Clemons Weibel. They lived in the St Mary's Ridge/Pine Hollow area of Monroe County. The 1880 Census shows that she was living with her step father, Mike Hemmersbach, and had 2 brothers, John and Simon, and 2 sisters, Barbara and Mary (half-sister) in Wells Township.
