Your request is too general - Since you do not give any names except Gottlieb KUEHL nor where he was born, lived, or died, it would be difficult for anyone to try to connect him to your wife (who is also not named). She and I have been looking into our families history lately and I was on the web and found this web page and seen your last name. I was wondering if you could give my wife and I any more information that might be the same for my wives family? She is from Tomah, located in Monroe County. The farthest we could go back was to a Gottleib Kuehl in the early 1800's. If you have any information about siblings, decendants and their wives maiden names, that would be very helpful. Thank-you so much. John Huenefeld <jhuenefeldIII@oaiinc.org>

John Nobel Jenkins whoe died in 1920 and Mary Ann (Edmonson) Jenkins who died in 1923 were also buried in the "Freshette" Plot, the in-laws of Sarah, and the cemetery records indicate Sarah is Mary Ann's sister. Is it possible Sarah Edmonson was married twice? Frank, Sarah's husband, was a well-known Captain of the tugboat "Ella G Stone", and under Frank's direction (according to family stories) the tug attempted to rescue crewman from the ship "Metaafa" when it sank in Lake Supserior, just outside the Duluth canal...a severe 1! 905 storm. I can't confirm this, but my Gramma Emma (Jenkins) Gardner, Sarah's niece, remembers being taken to the peer by Aunt Sarah to watch the failed rescue mission. Ice on the lake prevented the tug from reaching the ship, and Gramma Emma said she always remembered the storm and screams coming from that ship. Frank died in Dec of 1911at the age of 44, and Sarah died in 1941 at the age of 78 following a long ilness....records reflect Sarah came to the United States at the age of 17 (from Canada) and settled with her family (parents being George and Mary Rice Edmonson) near Sparta WI, later moving to Duluth where she lived for 50 years. Her death record reflects her birthplace as the Province of Quebec, Canada. Also, her obituary reflects she had a brother named William Edmonson of Portland OR and several nephews and nieces in Duluth, Portland (OR), and Wisconsin at the time of her death. I am curious as to the marriage record of Henry Starkey and Sarah Edmonson, ch! ildren, and the date of death of Henry. Barbara

John was married once before, and had one daughter Dora born of his first marriage. Dora, and his children with Mary Ann (6 of them - one being my grandmother "Emma"), along with John and Mary Ann, eventually all moved to Duluth Minnesota sometime around the turn of the century. Most of family membes are buried in the Duluth area. I knew Sarah Edmonson was the sister to Mary Ann Edmonson, but I did not know who Henry Starkey was until I read your message - and was delighted to get this detail. I would recommend reviewing census records to find your mother's parents (if I understand your question)...and would that name be Starkey? I have reviewed census records from 1880 and 1900, and the Edmonson name and Jenkins name appear quite often. What do you know about "Jenkins Valley", a term I have heard before and assume is due to the fact that many of the Jenkins family (John and! brothers) moved to the Sparta area from Ohio where they were born. I still am searching for information regarding David and Mariah (Strong) Jenkins, both born in Massachusetts 1805 and 1810 - who are the parents of John W. Jenkins - and I believe they are buried somewhere near Sparta or LIttle Falls because I cannot find information about them having come to the Duluth MN area. I have a copy of John and Mary Ann's marriage record.
I saw these photos listed on E-bay and thought someone on this list might have an interest in them. I don't know any more than what is listed below. Hello.. My husband and I are leaving for Wisconsin in the morning and will be going to Sparta where we will be doing research. I'll see if I can find anything for you in the records they have there at the Monroe County Local History Museum and Research Room. They have an e-mail address but right now I can't find it. My mother's sister married a Porter in Necedah which is what piqued my interest. I am from Tomah which is very near Tunnel City as you may know.
