My theory at this point is that your Lydia M. Wallace, b. 1845 in NY, may have been a niece of my G2 grandfather, William Wallace. William A. Wallace was born, 6 Sept 1824, in Crown Point, Essex County, N.Y. He and several elder siblings, whom I have not been able to identify. It is possible that this Lydia M. Wallace was the daughter of one of his older brothers. William A. Wallace had a younger sister, also named Lydia Mary Wallace. She was presumably given the Mary middle name to honor their mother Mary, who had married John Wallace. William had two daughters by his first wife, Rhoda. The first named Mary, was b. 1848; the second was named Lydia and was b. 1849, according to the 1850 Federal census of Crown Point, NY. It is not likely that this Lydia was the same as your Lydia [b. 1845 in NY]. I must point out here, however, that I have no info on this first family of William Wallace. William and his sister Lydia had another sister Fannie E. Wallace who setttled in Portage, Columbia County, Wisconsin and married George Murison there on 26 November 1868. Fannie died in Portage on 16 July 1917. When sister Lydia traveled from Tonkawa, Oklahoma to attend her sister's funeral, a companion newpaper account, next to Fannie's obituary, stated that Lydia [Mrs. George W. Case] continued on to visit in Sparta. My theory here, is that perhaps one of William and Lydia's older brothers, settled in the Sparta, Wisconsin area, and that this Lydia M. Wallace was one of his daughters. Since you have no further info on this Lydia M. Wallace, perhaps you could share some info about the people she was living with in 1860 in Monroe County.

SO, you would have to send your inquiry to them for birth certificates. However, having said that, Monroe was formed from LaCrosseCoWI in 1854, so the earliest registration dates for MonroeCoWI are birth: 1877, marriage: 1856, and death 1876. LaCrosseCoWI was formed in 1851 from CrawfordCoWI. CrawfordCoWI was formed in 1818 from the Michigan Territories. SO, it is doubtful that the birth records for these individuals exist. If you know their religious faith, then start checking the old churches in the area. Also, cemetery records might have dates. Also, your query is way too general - for example, you give an approximately year, this may pose a problem as many courthouses do NOT have their records indexed, they would have to search through the records line by line. Be sure for the females are you state whether you are giving the married name or maiden name. They must have a maiden name to do a birth search. Names must be exact to find the person - Fred is most likely a shortened version - However, I am willing to do a general search for the surname MOHNS and record below what I find for the state of WI or the county of Monroe, depending upon how many records pop up... Their names were Anton, Johannes Baptiste (who was murdered near Angello), and Clemons. Joseph and others may or may not have been related. Wishing to correspond with any descendants of the above as I try to learn from what village in Germany they had come from. Most of them departed from La Havre, France and arrived in New York City. Any leads greatly appreciated. Ziriac married Mary SCHMITT, daughter of Balthasar, in Monroe county where their first eight children were born before leaving for Nebraska circa 1867.
