Marilyn, I have some tin-types but have no idea who or where they are or are from. The ones that have names of photographers all seem to be regular photgraphs, for all I know about photographic history which is very little. They mostly have scenery of widely varying subject matter and many are merely head and shoulder shots. No twiggy benches on my photos, sorry. Thanks for responding, and thanks to all who have helped in this question. Have a great Christmas all, Gary Plano, TX
> To Gary, et al: Were any of these photogs "wet plate Photographers"? I have a tin type that was taken of my g grandmother supposedly on the day of her wedding in 1873. She was married in Sparta area. She sits on a twiggy bench-like construction, with her feet on a carpet. Of course, nothing on it identifies the photographer, but maybe the scenery on the tintype could help do so. I have asked my parents to get me information about this. They promised to send me something in the next few days. In later life this facility was a place for mentally retarded people. I do know that my aunt worked there for over 20 years. More later. Bill Betts Center Cross, Virginia

NAMES OF MEN GONE FROM THIS CITY TO SERV THEIR COUNTRY IN THE PRESENT WAR--LIST NOT YET COMPLETE. Col W.W. Warren and Lieut. E.C. Van Wie furnished the list as printed of all men who have enlisted from the City of Tomah in every branch of the army and navy. The compiling of this list has been one of difficulty owing to the various soources of infomation and its accuracy is not guaranteed at this time. however, every effort has been made to obtain reliable information. It is desired that every citizen examine the list carefully for the purpose of making corrections or additions. Every patriotic citizen may be of assistance, if he will but call or telephone to the Warren's Bank or Van Wie's Drug store with information concerning any of the names, and by keeping the information up to date. The following is especially desired at this time; Is the name correct? Has the man enlisted? Is the City of T! omah his home? Branch of service ,rank and where stationed?
