Hi everyone, Quick question. I recently got a copy of my gr gr gr grandfathers (John Thinnes and Mary Weber) marriage 'certificate' from 1849. It was signed by Michael Heiss who I have now learned was the pastor at Old St. Mary's Church at the time. My ggg grandfather died not too long after he was married but I'm not sure exactly where or when. Does anyone know if Old St. Mary's has any records that are available? Also, is there a cemetery at the church or one near by? Any leads would be appreciated. Thanks, Dave Pease
St. Mary's records are filmed. I recall looking at them at a Family History Center in Hales Corners--outside of Milwaukee. Calvary and Trinity are the oldest Catholic Cemeteries in the area. Neither are particularly close, although I was told Trinity moved. If he is not at these cemeteries, then other possibilities are Forest Home, Union, and an old German cemetery on Juneau and 13th Streets--if that ethnic group applies. All records from that cemetery have been destroyed, I learned.
