That's a great story! My grandfather was one of those "train engineers." And, it is Charlevoix...a lovely town in Michigan!
One English adopted relative of mine came to Bay View to work in the mills from St. Clair County, Michigan. He was a blacksmith. John Bishop was his name. Also, the famous (in Bay View) Beulah Brinton came from St. Clair County, Michigan with her husband who worked in the mill. I believe he ran the mill. There is a strong connection between St. Clair County, Michigan and the Bay View neighborhood in Milwaukee.
