Greetings to all. I am searching for obituaries of family members previously living in Milwaukee as they disappeared from the Milwaukee directories. I have found that (in the case of the people for whom I am searching) the directories between 1894-1937 frequently give the death date and age at death for persons now deceased who had previously been listed there. I have 2 questions: Does anyone know about what month of the year the Milwaukee directory was published. I am guessing, based on the previously referred to published death notices, that it would have been around August or September. As I have about 20 "missing persons" who disappear from the directories in the years between 1925-1959, this information would be very helpful, as none of them are in the social security death index and, my current only recourse is to read the year following someones last listing day by day---and I can't begin to say how time consuming that is, not to mention the eye and back fatigue. If I knew when the directory went to press, at least I could begin with a more likely month following the last listing of a person. The other question I have is this: is there any group who has indexed or is currently indexing obituaries in the Milwaukee journal or other Milwaukee papers, in the manner that the wonderful Stevens Point and Outgamie genealogy groups have done? Thanks for any helpful suggestions. Anne Gwaltney
