Hi Bob I have hit a brickwall with my GRIMES family. They emigrated to Milwaukee from Gillingham in Kent about 1915. John was born in Pembrokeshire Wales, 1854. Wife Sarah in Staffordshire, 1857. There was also James,1879, Henry,1886, Nellie 1889, George,1892, Thomas1894 and Cyril 1900. I was told by my grandmother,(one of the above family that did not emigrate,) that Cyril was drowned at the (New Lido,) in 1916. I would greatly appreciate any help or advice you could give me. Best wishes, Harold Spurgeon, Auckland, New Zealand.
What information are you looking for? What is "New Lido"? I haven't heard of that--does anybody else on the list know what this is? mrf HJ & PJE Spurgeon wrote: > Hi Bob > I have hit a brickwall with my GRIMES family. I am going by memory about information my grandmother talked about 50 years ago. She thought the "New Lido" was either a new swimming complex or a beach on the shores of Lake Michigan. Cyril drowned there at the age of 16 and he was born in 1900. I have a photo of Nellie with twin daughters who were in their mid 20's at the time, about 1948, but I don't know where it was taken. Unfortunately my grandparents are long since dead, together with all their children, so I have nobody to ask. If I cannot get any clues from your side of the world, I'll leave that side of the family to history. Best wishes, Harold > What information are you looking for? What is "New Lido"?
