Sandy, Let me do some looking on Ancestry.com Here is an interesting bit, to further confuse you....;-) There is a town or Township of Linn, in Walworth County, WI. It's close to Lake Geneva, WI. It's been too long since I've been back there, and the mind is a terrible thing to confuse, sometimes! I'll get back to you if i find anything of interest. Names in census reports are where things get changed around. Unless they had a German census taker, or the people could spell their own names, the Census is the place most names changed, NOT Ellis Island, as seems to be the conceived notion. Cindy, I did come across the 1860 census where he was listed as Peter and she was Mary, they had Elisabeth 2 years old and Catherine 1. I think there were a couple of boys born there too. Just wanted to let you know. Will welcome all the help you are willing to give. Let me know if I need to re-emburse you for anything.
