I'm aware this isn't exactly one Milwaukee Subject, but it seems to be something that has been mentioned. I have paid the subscription fees for ancestry for quite a few years. It's expensive, but i haven't had to use my car to go to libraries, or the LDS family centers. Infact I feel I have saved money, with my subscriptions. I can access all this info. here in my home, day or night, week ends or week days. I will gladly do a look up for someone not having a subscription, as time allows. I have a full time job and work part-time, so time is the only factor. But I don't seek any compensation ever, just the satifaction of helping someone in a tight spot. Knowing that when I run into something that requires a look up in records out of my town, Denver, CO., that someone will be there to help me.....Isn't this what it's all about? We are all related, somewhere, we just haven't found the connection. To my knowledge, ancestry will let you build a site "free", with only their advertising. But it has to be genealogy connected. I let my ancestry sub lapse, due to not having the funds at the moment, but I sure do miss having it and will be reinstating it at my earliest opportunity. Sure, they're a business, but where else can one get all that information so easily? Worth it to me. By the way, there is an interesting article about Ancestry on Wikipedia.com -- for those interested in the business wheelings and dealings. mrf Cindy Dooley wrote: > I'm aware this isn't exactly one Milwaukee Subject, but it seems to be > something that has been mentioned.
