I've mostly had almost zero access to the Internet for the past several weeks as this Senior Citizen, with minimal computer savvy, has been trying hard to switch over from dial-up to high-speed. AT&T predicted the whole process would not exceed one hour, which has proved to be wildly optimistic in my case. Below is a partial summary of transoceanic ship travel by Danish engineer Asger Eilersgaard (1882-1966) + Mildred Magie (1890-1929), as currently reported by Ancestry.com. More details later from JQM. Did Asger and Mildred divorce before Mildred died (of what?) in Chicago on August 23, 1929. Also, was Mildred Asger's first and only wife? And was Charlotte "Billie" (Eilersgaard) Roberts the only child of either Asger or Mildred? As Spring approaches, I'm still hopeful I can soon give the Rev. Bill Roberts (Episcopal Rector at Deerfield, IL) and his wife Ingrid a tour of Section 33 at Forest Home Cemetery, Milwaukee-- unless they have already done so. Section 33 includes the unusual above-ground grave of Bill's grandmother Mildred, along with the headstones of her parents and our mutual ancestors Jonathan and Almira (nee Eldred) Magie. This section is probably now the most expensive and attractive area at Forest Home--one of the most beautiful cemeteries in the Midwest. The empty burial lots in Section 33 were all paid for by our family well over a century ago, along with the annual flowers that I try to water in the heat of mid-summer. In the event that Bill does not become the next Episcopal Bishop of, say, San Francisco, I remain hopeful that he might consider Forest Home as a final resting place for his young family. Forest Home (founded in 1849-50) is still carefully maintained by St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Milwaukee's oldest Episcopal congregation. It's clear that St. Paul's was at the very center of the lives our Magie and Eldred ancestors (beginning in the 1840s), and the finest of the expensive Tiffany glass windows in the present Richardsonian Romanesque edifice on Knapp St., as erected in the early 1880s, appear to have been generously donated by our Eldred ancestors ............John (in metro Chicago) _______________________________________________ New York Passenger Lists, 1820-1957 Name: Mr. Asger Eilersgaard, Danish Engineer Birth: abt 1882 Last USA visit: 1906 Departure: Cherbourg, France Arrival: 9 Feb 1907 - New York, New York Hamburg Passenger Lists, 1850-1934 (in German) Name: Asger Eilersgaard Birth: abt 1882 Departure: 3 Sep 1912 - Hamburg New York Passenger Lists, 1820-195 Name: Asger Eilersgaard Departure: Copenhagen, Denmark Home: South Shore Country Club, Chicago [also the Chicago home of William A.
