I have a copy of an 1858 Milwaukee County map, and this shows that at that time the Town of Greenfield was roughly bounded by modern 27th and 124th streets on east and west (the Waukesha County line) and by modern Greenfield and College avenues on the north and south. The municipalities of Milwaukee, West Milwaukee, West Allis, Greenfield, Greendale, and Hales Corner now cover all of this area, but the Greenfield Township government may well still serve most of what was meant by "Greenfield" in the earliest years of Milwaukee County. ........John
