Regarding newspapers -- the Cleveland Public Library kept a card file of death notices going back about 100 years. I don't know whether they scanned them in or had someone key them in, but they're all online -- complete death notices listing various relatives, funeral homes, etc., fully searchable online by surname or keyword! Wish the Milwaukee Public Library would do something similar.
