    1. [WiMilwau] Pilgrims Rest + Forest Home- USGS maps
    2. The following two detailed map URLs show Milwaukee's Pilgrims Rest Cemetery on the left-- plus the larger Forest Home Cemetery to the right-- along with the much smaller Greenwood Cemetery just south of Forest Home: topozone.com/map.asp?z=16&n=4760763&e=423098&s=25 terraserver.homeadvisor.msn.com/image.asp?s=11&t=2&x=1057&y=11902&z=16&w=2 [more detail] The U.S. Geological Survey map info at these two sites appears to date entirely to 1971, giving it some historic interest. And the old main (north) entrance to Forest Home was recently blocked off-- and moved westward to about midway on Forest Home Ave. between Lincoln and 27th. Pilgrims Rest is bounded by Forest Home Ave. on the south, 31st & 33rd on the east and west, and Hayes Ave. on the north. The zoomed-up TerraServer map more clearly shows the especially dramatic topography of Forest Home-- which makes it, I feel, one of the most beautiful Midwest cemeteries. This landscape, including several tiny probable kettle lakes, was apparently formed over ten thousand years ago at the end of the last Ice Age. Bob tells me that there have been minimal subsequent human adjustments to the Forest Home topography. Ashley has already pointed out the TopoZone and TerraServer websites below. And I have already sent (off-list) part of the following info to Bob of Brookfield. ........John (in Chicago) _______________________________________________ << Subj: Re: [WiMilwau] Pilgraims Rest Cemetery Date: 9/6/01 11:38:35 AM Central Daylight Time From: Gartzr@aol.com Reply-to: WIMILWAU-L@rootsweb.com To: WIMILWAU-L@rootsweb.com records for Pilgrim Rest Cemetery must be called for at Good Hope Cemetery 4101 S. 43rd St. Milwaukee, WI 53220 1-414-541-3178 >> Bob of Brookfield _______________________________________________
