    1. [WiMilwau] BAT? attachments from Apetta
    2. Apetta "directions" wanted, not drivers To Susan, etc.-- many listers are now of course more nervous than usual about possible Internet worms & viruses. And I'd really appreciate some input from you or OTHERS as to what your unexplained and unsolicited BAT attachment (below) is all about. It's probably totally benign, but I just don't know. You haven't yet responded to any of my private queries, even while you've continued to add postings to this WiMilwau list. So I'm now wondering whether you're not receiving some or all off-list e-mails sent to you. And I decided I'd send my present note as an on-list posting. .........John __________________________________________________________ VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV Subj: seeking driving directions Date: 12/10/01 12:46:11 PM Central Standard Time From: JQMagie To: apetta@netwurx.net Hi Susan-- 1. I'm not totally clear how well I'm protected from Internet viruses-- and I have no idea why you sent me your BAT e-mail in Appendix 1 (below). Kindly explain, so that I have a better idea whether I should try to open this "BAT" attachment. 2. Please also indicate whether you were able to confirm that Milwaukee's pre-1930 Elm Street is now West Garfield Avenue, as I had theorized. And were you able to clearly view the Yahoo map I referred you too? (I recently designed this shortened Yahoo URL that I sent you.) See Appendix 2 below. 3. Also, did you ever get receive my DIETRICH e-mail of 11/28/01 and its enclosed copy of the 08/17/01 "[WiMilwau] DIETRICH Index" posting of Louise <Billnwese@aol.com>? See Appendix 3 below. Incidentally-- at least as I received this from RootsWeb, the formatting in your last big batch of Milwaukee County documents (presumably transcribed by you) unfortunately made these postings very difficult to quickly understand. ...........John ____________________________________________________ [1] << Subj: Unable to find drivers Date: 12/10/01 9:55:04 AM Central Standard Time From: apetta@netwurx.net (Dr. Andrew Petta) File: hardware.bat (45568 bytes) DL Time (45333 bps): < 1 minute Often the computer looks, for example, in “D:\WIN98”, the path from which Windows was installed. I came up empty. But I did find the following 17 Aug 2001 "DIETRICH Index" posting in the WiMilwau list archives, which I thought might interest you. Maybe you were referring to "you" in the plural sense of "y'all" -- meaning everyone on the WiMilwau list? ..........John ________________________ Subj: [WiMilwau] DIETRICH, Lenger, Linger, Glesius, Michels, Marnetz Date: 11/28/01 10:06:26 AM Central Standard Time From: apetta@netwurx.net (Dr. Andrew Petta) Reply-to: WIMILWAU-L@rootsweb.com To: WIMILWAU-L@rootsweb.com << DIETRICH, Lenger, Linger, Glesius, Michels, Marnetz Is there any chance that some of your ancestors settled in Southeastern Wisconsin? ........ >> ________________________ http://listsearches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl?list=WIMILWAU CNIDR Isearch-cgi 1.20.06 (File: 110) Date: Fri, 17 Aug 2001 09:50:41 EDT From: <Billnwese@aol.com> To: WIMILWAU-L@rootsweb.com Message-ID: <e2.194397a7.28ae7b31@aol.com> Subject: [WiMilwau] DIETRICH Index Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" << Hello Listers, Before I went to the Milw.
