Ellen, I would agree with Bill. It is a well traveled street during the day time, especially 27th St. I can't fathom any problem taking pictures at that time. One of the problems of the area is that there is quite a few rooming houses just south of there and a lot of alcoholics are there so you might get hassled even during the daytime for some money but even that isn't too likely. I had somewhat the same problem a few years back in Rochester, New York when I made my first trip there to meet new-found family. I stopped to take a picture of the house my grandfather lived in. It wasn't in the "nicest" of neighborhoods. I got a good picture without getting out of the car, just rolling the window down. If all else fails, you could call me and I would be more than happy to accompany you to the area and more or less be your body guard if you are coming alone. I honestly don't even think you would be hassled for money if there were two of you. It would be best, of course, on a Friday afternoon (the day that I donate for this kind of thing at historic Forest Home Cemetery (lookups, tours and yes, even tours away from he cemetery as long as they are not half-day tours.
