Many thanks for all the kind offers of help with the 1910 Census. I have a subscription to ancestry.com for the Census images, but am finding it difficult to navigate the Census with a modern map because many of the streets have changed names. Is there an online map of this period with the contemporary street names? It would be an enormous help if someone could suggest which ED Highland Avenue might be in. The Census people have done a fine job of hiding it from me. Thanks again Terry Haslam-Jones Lancashire England
The problem may be that there was no Highland Avenue in 1910. There was a Highland Boulevard in the area around Washington Park and a Highland Place on the East Side that only ran for three blocks. The present Highland Avenue was called Tamarack west of the Milwaukee River.
