Hi Ellen, Is Staudinger a very common name? It doesn't seem so to me. I have a gggaunt, Annabella Zant (whose mother was born in Bavaria), who married Leopold Staudinger 26 May 1897. Their 3 children were Joseph (b. 26 March 1898, Barron Co, WI), Laura, b. abt 1900 WI; and Percy, b. 21 Oct 1903, WI. I have a cousin who is in contact with Annabella's great-granddaughter.
