I am searching for a widow's pension for a civil war veteran and have been advised by NARA that the file is held by the V.A. Is there a lister available and willing to do a lookup at the V.A. Regional Office in Milwaukee? Don
When I went to locate information at Wood VA Cemetery in milwaulee--they only have the burial records. You need to sent to (Kansaa?? Somewhere in the midwest..anyone out there have the address?) where alll the military records are held to obtain pension information or service records...They will send you a form to fill in to request the records. ...or go to the VA office in your County and ask for the forn you need to request the records on. (Don't hold your breath...I submitted a request on the proper records for my father's service record in May 2001 and still haven't heard anything from them). or if you are lucky and the service member belonged to a VFW, their local chapter may have a copy.
