Dear Listers, I'm searching for descendants of Joachim Friedrich LUCK and Anna Sophia (HELM) LUCK, an early "Alt Lutheraner" family who immigrated to Freistadt, WI from Bünnewitz, Kreis Cammin, Pommern in 1839 and then moved to Milwaukee in 1841. Joachim had been a "Freiheitkampfer" and was a school teacher in Germany. I believe he was also a teacher and lay pastor in Freistadt and was involved in founding Trinity Lutheran Church in Milwaukee after his move there. In 1843 he and his oldest son purchased land in Washington County, but I don't believe they ever lived there. Joachim and Anna came to Wisconsin with five children: 1. Anna Maria Albertine Wilhelmine LUCK, b. 24 Oct 1822 2. William Friedrich Ferdinand LUCK, b. 17 Feb 1824 3. Franz Eduard LUCK, b. 25 Feb 1827 4. Elwine Sophie LUCK, b. 5 Jan 1830 5. Johanna Friederike Elizabeth LUCK, b. 30 Oct 1834 All five children were born in Bünnewitz. Joachim was a cousin of my G-G-G-GF, Michael LUCK, and was the first known person to emigrate from Bünnewitz to the United States. I'm looking for descendants of his, not just to find distant cousins, but in the desperate hope they might be able to solve what I call "my Johann problem". Joachim and Michael LUCK were each born to a Johann LUCK. The two Johann's were first cousins, one born to a Martin LUCK and the other to Martin's brother Hans LUCK. Unfortunately, I don't know which Johann is my G-G-G-G-GF and which one is his cousin, and the surviving church records don't go back that far. So, is anybody here connected to this family, or has anybody come across them in their research? Thanks, ...Alex Julius Alexander Luck Lamoine, Maine, USA jaluck@optonline.net juliusluck@netscape.net <http://luckfamily.8m.com/alex.htm>; My LUCK family genealogy site!
