Doug, I am impressed with the amount of information/knowledge you have on Drosedow, and Pommerm, in general. Thanks alot for sending the information. When I got involved with genealogy over a year ago, I first zeroed in on the Baltic Sea location of Drosedow; later, I must have changed my mind and then concentrated on the hoh. Drosedow that is near Treptow. I guess my reason was that I figured the Drosedow near the Baltic was probably not a good farming area - so I wondered where my grandfather and others got their farming experience from??? I will certainly try to get a copy of the book about the history of Drosedow. It so happens that our next door neighbor lady is German born; she reads, talks and writes German fluently. We have another German lady friend down the block from us who is also fluent in the language. I am sure they would help me read the book. I am curious why LDS has not documented the Lutheran Church's records in Drosedow? I have noticed in researching the LDS web site that I never see any refernces to Drosedow, Pommern. I even mentioned that to my sister not longer ago (she is also actively involved with family research). I suppose that the present day Drosedow is nothing like the 1937 version. I am sure that there are no Bohlmann's or Gaulke's still there. I have read that the Polish people took a dim view of the Germans after WW II when they got territory from Germany. I wonder if the Lutheran Church is still there? It sure would be interesting to visit that area. I mentioned that my g-grandfather (Johann Carl Grundemann/Gruendemann) was supposedly born in Drosedow in 1826. I think that he may have been born at the other Drosedow near Treptow, because there is a LDS document showing his christening at Gallnow, Pommern in 1826. There are two other surnames that may be connected to Drosedow: Henke and Kroening (or Kroning). Does your information mention them? Thanks for all your help, Doug. It is really nice to be able to communicate with someone who has advanced knowledge/information about the very same things I am interested in. If you have more good info - please send it! Roy Bohlman
