    3. Why am I getting messages that have the same number on them i.e. 3-of #1 and 3 of #2 and 3 of #3. Supposedly there were only 5 messages but I counted at least 11 messages.

    3. Don't they have a media rate option? Yes, just let me know by next week and I'll buy up some copies for those who don't want to order directly. Not a problem for me--part of my job is supervising staff in a mailroom, so we have plenty of recycled padded envelopes and other mailing supplies to use, etc. mrf Jen Laris wrote: > Aloha, Well, to ship to HI. 3. Message thread was originally posted 3/19-3/21. You can browse the archives to find it. But here was my initiating message from then. If you search for it on the Schwartz site, be sure you do NOT put the word "The" in the search or it won't come up (we found out the hard way). Just type Heritage Guidebook in the search box and it should come up. Today I found a book I hadn't seen before. It's called "The Heritage Guidebook" (1989 edition) and I was able to purchase it from Schwartz Bookstore for only $4.99. It's a hardcover with over 400 pages and 968 black and white photos of landmarks and historical sites in Southeastern Wisconsin. Three photos/descriptions on most pages: pp1-182 - Milwaukee County pp183-234 - Ozaukee County pp235-272 - Washington County pp273-342 - Waukesha County pp343-404 - Racine County The index is alphabetical by county. "The Heritage Guidebook" by H. Russell Zimmerman (Schwartz Bookshop) A. David Schwartz rescued this book from obscurity years ago and it is still readily available at bargain prices at Schwartz shops. The subtitle, "Landmarks and Historical Sites in Southeastern Wisconsin," pretty much says it all, but Zimmerman's work is the bible of Milwaukee architecture and is essential. If you want to get a copy, they seemed to have many (at least 30-40). You can order them through their website: www.schwartzbooks.com Type the title in the search box and a photo of the book will come up. I have no financial interest in this; just thought it would be a good resource for genealogists. There are many photos of churches and early businesses. mrf sue@wekan.com wrote: > I must have missed something; could someone tell me what is is the Heritage Guidebook please? > hulagram wrote .. > >> ----- Original Message ----- >> From: "Mary R. 1. [WIMILWAU] Ancestry subscriptions- big current discounts
    2. Surprisingly, I just saved $100.00 on my annual Ancestry.com subscription by FORGETTING to tell Ancestry that my debit card number had recently changed. Because Ancestry was unable to automatically withdraw $299.40 from my bank account, they canceled my account. But when I then called them to straighten this out, they told me that wayward subscribers were temporarily able to sign up again at a $100.00 discount. No problem, I said. Ancestry.com (1-800-262-3787, weekdays, 8 am to 6 pm CDT) told me today that these discounts could well last to the end of April- but might also be withdrawn with the next few days, i.e., VERY SOON. I have very limited need for Ancestry's more expensive International Records, which seem to be mostly too recent to help me much-- with their apparent focus mostly the British Isles & Europe in the 19th and 20th centuries. I have much more interest in USA and Canada genealogy. But unfortunately the Canada databases are in the International category-- which explains why I recently switched from the "US Deluxe" plan to the "World Deluxe" plan. And the latter plan includes ALL of Ancestry's bells & whistles. So only the World plan includes "unlimited access to everything on Ancestry.com." And right now (as paid annually upfront) that $299.40 plan costs $199.00, while the $155.40 US plan now costs $99.00 (compare http://www.ancestry.com/subscribe/signup.aspx) I have no financial interest whatsoever in Ancestry.com. But it seems to me that it does provide very substantial value to even the occasional researcher-- as long as he or she has an interest especially in North American genealogy-- and (to a lesser extent) European genealogy ...........John (in metro Chicago) ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.

    2. On March 20th I got on the website: _http://www.schwartzbooks.com/_ (http://www.schwartzbooks.com/) , and typed "The Heritage Guidebook" and the author's name: H. Russell Zimmerman. It could not be found in the Schwartz Bookstore website. I assume the remaining copies had already been sold because of the Milwaukee posting. I was able to find a copy available in used condition at Amazon.com for $6.19. When searching for any book a great source is _http://www.campusi.com/_ (http://www.campusi.com/) . They don't sell books but rather find books and give you links to get to the actual purchase. They will also show the variety of prices for your search object. 3. I'm interested in this book as I use to live in Waukesha County. I did as you said, and my message came up, even in the Advanced Search as "Sorry, no results were found. Please try again or you may try our Advanced Search" Jeanette in Hilo, Hawaii Today's Topics: 1. The Heritage Guidebook (mrfrank@uwm.edu) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Message: 1 Date: Sun, 18 Mar 2007 23:26:43 -0500 From: mrfrank@uwm.edu Subject: [WIMILWAU] The Heritage Guidebook To: "WIMILWAU@rootsweb.com" <WIMILWAU@rootsweb.com> Message-ID: <1174278403.45fe11038c158@panthermail.uwm.edu> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 Today I found a book I hadn't seen before. There are many photos of churches and early businesses. mrf ------------------------------ To contact the WIMILWAU list administrator, send an email to WIMILWAU-admin@rootsweb.com. 1. [WIMILWAU] One Family History Center in Milwaukee closes
    2. Mary R. Frank
    3. One of the Milwaukee-area Family History Centers has apparently been closed, but a new one opened in Brookfield, WI. If you're planning a genealogy trip to Milwaukee any time soon, this may be important to know. There is also another Family History Center at 9600 W. Grange Ave. in Milwaukee. Per the Milwaukee County Genealogical Society newsletter: *New Brookfield Family History Center* The Milwaukee Northside Parkway Family History Center on Calumet Road has been closed. Everything from that site has been transferred to Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 755 Woelfel Road. This Brookfield site is on the corner of Woelfel Road and Wisconsin Avenue.

    1. [WIMILWAU] Lake Superior Big Top Chautauqua performs FREE show at Pabst Theater
    2. Ashley Tiwara
    3. Big Top Chautauqua is from Bayfield, Wisconsin, where they do historical music and historical storytelling under a tent roof. Most of the history slides down easy because of the skilled presentation. Think of attending the show because A. you don't need to travel 400 miles to see it B. It costs a lot less than it does in Bayfield Ashley ******************************************** --- Melissa Dorn Richards <melissa@MARNonline.com> wrote: > To: milwaukeeartistresourcenetwork@yahoogroups.com > From: Melissa Dorn Richards <melissa@MARNonline.com> > Date: Tue, 27 Mar 2007 19:05:31 -0500 > Subject: [MARN] Lake Superior Big Top Chautauqua performs FREE show > at Pabst Theater > > > > Lake Superior Big Top Chautauqua performs FREE show at Pabst > Theater > > > > Big Top Chautauqua and The United States Forest Service > > present The Live Performance and high-definition Filming of > > > > > > Centennial Green: The Over and Understory of the U. 2. John
    3. Hi Louise- In the 1860 census, he is listed as Nicolaus and he is living with his father Peter, mother Susanna and 5 siblings in Belgium, Ozaukee County Wisconsin. In all of the other available records on Ancestry.com, he is listed as; N. Thill, N. A. Thill and Rev. N. A. Thill. Sorry but I can't help with the A initial. There's an article mentioning his death on June 16, 1898 in Jefferson and his brother taking over his position. This was at St John the Baptist Parish in Jefferson. This article can be viewed online at; Wisconsin History Society's web page<http://www.wisconsinhistory.org/wlhba/articleView.asp?pg=1&id=7297&key=thill&cy=>. If you have any problems viewing it, contact me an I can send you the file via e-mail as I have saved it temporarily. 1. [WIMILWAU] free online HeritageQuest
    2. _dkane@genealogyinprint.com_ (mailto:dkane@genealogyinprint.com) , Useful info that's new (to me at least)-- and thanks especially to recent RootsWeb posts contributed by Lafe (lancerone@wi.rr.com) + Kathy (lenerz@worldnet.att.net). As I previously mentioned, recently I found that HeritageQuest has some valuable Revolutionary War (and several other) databases that Ancestry.com apparently does NOT provide. And I find that I can remotely access HeritageQuest data via my local Illinois library (at no cost), typing in the coding imprinted on my library card .............John (in metro Chicago) ________________________________________________ -----Forwarded Message----- Subj: [GENWISCONSIN] Free HeritageQuest Date: 3/26/2007 3:54:34 A.M. 1. [WIMILWAU] N. A. Thill
    2. Hello Listers, I recently received copies of two old prayer cards: one in German so my translation will be imperfect. Rev. N. A. Thill born in Holy Cross Wisconsin on Feb 15, 1849, ordained to the priesthood at St. Francis Dec 22, 1872, died at Jefferson WI Jun 16, 1898 and buried in Port Washington WI Jun 23, 1898. The second card was of his housekeeper, Miss Nora Gales who died in Jefferson May 24, 1895 and was buried at Gilbertsville Iowa. My question is what is Rev. Thill's name and what church in Jefferson was his posting? Thank You all, Louise Port St Lucie FL ************************************** AOL now offers free email to everyone.
