Wondering if anyone is able to check on a possible death for a Johann Friedericke Wilhelm Streese(or Striese). . ..(Wilhelm was the name on his daughter's baptismal certifcate, but not sure what he went by). I'm planning on paying for a certificate but I'm not positive he died in Milwaukee so was wondering if I could get some indication of that first. He married a Emma Zipfel in 1892 in Milwaukee and she died in 1899, and is buried with her family but not with him. I have called quite a few cemetaries already with no luck, although not sure if they checked for alternate spellings of the Streese/Streise name. Or does Milwaukee allow transcriptionists for their records?? If so, anyone who could pass on the name of a transcriptionist I could contact I would appreciate it!! Thanks so much again!! Hello all again, Still looking for the Streese/Striese family of Johann Friedericke Wilhelm Streese, from Germany; apparently, his mother's family was named Meiseler(Caroline), and there were several Meiseler's who emigrated to Milwaukee in the late 1800's. . .would someone mind looking up any directory listings for that surname Meisler(or spelling Striese??). ...any years between 1880 and 1930 would be helpful. .. Thanks again so much; this list has been SO helpful and I hope I can return the favors. Sincerely, Pam ______________________________________________________
Albert G Becker's death notice should list family members who survived him, usually including the husband's name of married women, and sometimes the paper will list a place where out-of-town relatives are living. By now (30 years later), some of these may be dead and you could find them on SSDI as well. So, work back and forth between death notices and SSDI to find out who's still living. It can take several weeks to get a death certificate from Madison. If it's been more than 8 weeks, I'd contact them again. The death certificate may list a family member as the person who provided personal information. It will also list the cemetary and you could contact them to see if there's a family plot. Again, you would want to check for death notices on deceased family members. The cemetery may also have information on living persons who own the rest of the family plot. However, I don't know whether they would divulge that information or consider it private. Once you've got an idea who might be living, you can check online white pages. Of course, not everyone has a listed phone number/address, and Becker is a very common name. Good luck! Mary Popovich
Hello List I am a new subscriber. I'm trying to help my German friend find her American family. I've succeeded up to 1935. This is the Christian & Maria Hein Becker family. I located them in the census records and then in the city directories in Salt Lake City last week. Address was on Woodlawn Ave.in 1935. Maria was a widow then. One son Albert Gustav Becker I located on the SSDI. He died in October 1972. I sent for death certificate to Vital Records, P. O. Box 309, Madison, enclosing $7 check. The check was never cashed nor any word received. Can anyone suggest how to proceed. Any suggestions on how to locate present day members of this family would be much appreciated. Edna

Can anybody tell me what is contained in "Wright's Milwaukee Directory"? Is it a directory listing addresses and occupants or does it list occupations and family members, etc.?? Also, is there an on-line site where one can access this directory? Hi List, I would like to ask someone going to the library to lookup the obit for Theodor Bochinski of Poland. He died in Milwaukee on November 4, 1943. I'm hoping that there will be information in this obit to help me straighten out this family. Thanks so much. ~Michelle

Jere Sorry to respond late, but was out of town. I was doing research in Milwaukee in August and ran into a woman who was a paid researcher. Since I live in North Carolina I asked for her name in case I needed further help. I have not yet used her, but will pass along her name. Hi Bob, I was wondering if you could check your cemetery records for me and let me know if there is any additional info on Julia Lodema SAULT? I have yet to find out how and where she fits in. I also found My GG grandmothers brother Thomas Butler Sault and his family (George Saults G grandfather I believe. And I have not heard from him as of yet. Hope he and his family are ok.) I found Thomas and his family at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Milwaukee, I still have a John Sault to locate which is another brother to Thomas and My GG Grand mother Susan Sault Bainer. And there are three Saults with Thomas and his wife Nellie that I also need to find out who and how they may be related. Thanks Bob! Anyone else, Any help on Any Saults/Salts, also a Payne CHRISTIE that lived in Milwaukee early 1900's, had a daughter about 1908 Elaine Beatrice or so I believe. And My GG Grandmothers family Susan and Jacob BAINER had twin daughters and a son also in 1887 and 1884. George Bainer born Sept. 10,1884 and Elizabeth and Florence Bainer born July 4, 1887. Also sister of my GG grandmother Sarah Jane Sault GRANT was married to Eugene L. Grant in Ohio in 1875. They also lived in Milwaukee I found all of the Saults, and Grants, and Bainers in the Milwaukee Directory for 1889 and 1890. Looking for any info that may be about them. Many thanks. Blessings, Debbie Christie-Rogers Bellevue NE
Here's the online site for Wood Cemetery: http://www.interment.net/data/us/wi/milwaukee/woodnat/ Some veterans have graves/markers paid for by the VA. If that was the case with your family member, there should be a record of it. Mary Popovich
I need to make contact with a paid researcher in Milwaukee for a probate search and obituary. Jere Keefer jkeefer@pa.net.
