Thanks, Jenny

Here's a website that provides the E.D. number for your Milwaukee family, provided you know approximately where they lived. I just tried it for my family that lived near 5th Avenue and Burnham and it told me that the E.D. would be 100 and also gave me a list of the streets in that E.D. The website also has a mapping tool in case you're not familiar with neighborhood. http://home.pacbell.net/spmorse/census/ Note: Some states/regions have been soundexed (e.g., North Carolina, Virginia, etc.). Also, some cities have been indexed by street address (e.g., Philadelphia, Gary, etc.). Depending on where our families lived, we'll need to be able to use several resources to find them on the 1930 census. Mary Popovich Busia's Roots, Genealogy Phoenix, AZ

I found a site for purchasing old maps of Milwaukee and other places too. I have ordered several and will tell you more about them after these come. They are very inexpensive too. The person who sells them is the Waupaca Co. Genealogical Soc. Treasurer or is it the Historical Society? He is Bill Handrich. He can be reached by e-mail at <handrich@triver.com> . At present he is having some server problems so he can't always get his mail but he will get it eventually and he will answer you. Patti

Hi Everyone, Thought I'd repost my interests...maybe someone new out there is a long-lost cousin. Brothers Jacob and Peter STAUDINGER were from Bavaria. The earliest document I have shows the marriage of Peter STAUDINGER to Mary KAISER at old St. Mary's, Milwaukee in 1855. They show up in Pittsburgh, PA in 1858, when Jacob STAUDINGER married Maria GRISLEN/GRISSLING/CHRISTIE. I can't find anything for their wives' parents, either. Did they just beam down? They are not found in the 1850 census. I do have them traced pretty well after that, but still do not have their home village, or any other documents from their stay in WI. Some associated names include: ENGEL, KRAUS. Any suggestions or comments are greatly appreciated! Regards, Ellen Weaver
Thank-you very much, Mary! Bye the way those death & birth record (for MRAZIK and WOODS ancestors) forms required to get copies. I should only need one of each if you feel they can be scanned. I have a scanner & printer so I could copy each before filling them out. I really appreciate your kindness to help. Hi: My great-grandmother was Johanna Caroline Louise Podivils d/o Johann and Johanna (REINKE) PODIVILS born in 1859 in Prussia. She married Hermann DECKOW about 1880; they lived and raised their family in Milwaukee. (My Family Surnames) I wonder if any of her siblings immigrated from Wurchow, Kreis Neustettin Prussia that I haven't been able to find and if anyone out there is researching a PODIVILS family of the Milwaukee area. Thank you, ~Judy~
Hello to everyone, I am new to the list. I have read some of the Archives postings and it looks like a good group :)) I need help finding two obituaries from my family. What would be the best way for someone from out of town to find them? Is there more than one paper that I should check? The two I am looking for are: Carl FUCHS d. Aug. 19,1939 in Milwaukee Sophie FUCHS d. Oct. 22, 1932 in Milwaukee. They are buried in Holy Trinity Cemetery. (That Catholic Cemetery site is great!) TIA for any help. Peg

Hi Cheryl, Thanks for the offer..I'll have to look at my names and see....no rush...does the office there have a surname index? Index cards? I was there in November--the one day that was cold--because it was an unseasonably warm fall/early winter! Please e-mail me at the addy below... I am interested in Alberti and Scaffidi--I think I found all my Polish/Slavic relatives. Susan snokes@tscnet.com Did you have a specific request for research at Holy Sepulcher? I live like 5 minutes away from there and can take digital photos. The only difficulty is that the only time I'd be able to go to the office would be on Saturday mornings and I'm busy the next two Saturdays. Cheryl
