I can't seem to find the Drosedow (near the Baltic) on a map; it is very likely so small that it was not worthy about placing its location on most maps. Just before I go to bed about 1:00 A.M. I will try to get into the Drosedow sites. Roy

    3. Hi Susan: Arnsberg is a small village in Kreis Greifenberg. My gg grandfather was born in Arnsberg. The church records for Arnsberg can be found in the Triebs Church book. The Lutheran records are from 1810-1874, film # 1273104 & 1273105. I have these films on permanent loan in Wausau, WI. There are a ton of Hoppe's in the church book. I did a database of the marriages found in the Triebs Church book, so email me your names and I will look. I did see one Schramm and about 40 Hoppe marriages for male and female. I am going to take a break from the computer as my wife is not feeling well ,so if I will get back to you probably tomorrow. An August Hoppe in Milwaukee was a witness to the marriage of one of my ancestors. Hoppe is a common name. I have information on the village or Arnsberg. The book called 'Chronik des Kreises Greifenberg in Hinterpommern by von Albert Ulrich. I found it in the Oshkosh Public Library. I would assume someplace in Milwaukee would have the book. It is hard to find. I better go. Talk more later. Doug Plowman Doug, You seem to know a lot about Germany!!! Any idea where Arnsberg is? I think it may be the one in Kreis Greifenberg near a town called Robe/Roby--but I'm not certain...I checked all the microfilm records for that town, but did not find any relatives. Is there an Arnsberg closer to Berlin? I see that the Gazzeteer has 4 possibilities: Arnsberg 48N 11E 470 1541 Arnsberg 51N 7E 296 971 Arnsberg 51N 8E 319 1046 Arnsburg 50N 8E 202 662 Susan snokes@tscnet.com

    3. Hi Roy: Drosedow is to the east of Treptow a.d. Rega (Treptow on the Rega River) Treptow ad Rega is in Kreis Greifenberg. Drosedow is in Kreis Kolberg-Korlin and is about 17 km southwest of Kolberg, which is on the Baltic See. In 1937 there is one Bohlmann still living in Drosedow, name Walter a farmer with 19 hectares (ha), There are no Grümdemann's living there in 1937, but there are 4 Gaulke's living there, Albert a tablemaker owns 2 ha, Ewald, a worker, Karl a male property owner with 3 ha., and Louise, a female tailor-seamstress. Drosedow had an evangelical church, it's local court and it's own civil registration. I checked the FHLC for LDS and no records for Drosedow are filmed. You can get a map of Kreis Kolberg-Korlin from the Pommern Verein Freistadt in Milwaukee. They have a web site. A history of Drosedow is in the Book called "Das Kolberger Land "by Manfred Volleck. I just got the book and it is in German. I have more on Pommern research so if you want to email me directly, I can respond more. 3. Sandy, Rantoul and Chilton are in Calumet County. Calumet County is roughly 80 miles north of Milwaukee County. Have you tried the Calumet County website for information? My friend Debie has a great site. http://www.rootsweb.com/~wicalume/ You mentioned in your other post you think the family may have moved to Milwaukee County. What specifically are you looking for? 3. Hello List: I am researching my John Peter Christ family. I have located them in Rantoul, Calument WI in 1880. There is evidence that they were in Fond du Lac, WI in 1896 as that is when John and one of his daughter's Annie died and were buried there. Other family members lived on Military St. Would love to understand the layout for Military St. in the late 1800's. There is also some evidence that they lived in Milwaukee in the early 1900's as I have professional photograph's of my grandmother Bertha and her daughter's Mildred and Beatrice. She may have married Bernard Maley there. It would be super if someone from there could take on this project for me as I am clear over here in OR. Then if I could help someone here I sure would. Thanks, Sandy If u need more info. as to their children etc. let me know.
