Anyone by that name? -----Original Message----- From: Mary Frank [mailto:MRFRANK@des.uwm.edu] Sent: Thursday, May 02, 2002 5:17 PM To: WIMILWAU-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [WiMilwau] Early Milwaukee Telephone Co. Anybody on this list have ancestors who worked at the Milwaukee Telephone Co. back in the 20's? My Grandma Frank worked there and I have many pictures of outings she took with friends from the work I would be willing to photocopy for anyone who might have ancestors who worked there. She said those were the best days of her life. Obviously, she enjoyed the single life, but I'm glad she eventually married and had kids or I wouldn't be here, at least in my present form! ==== WIMILWAU Mailing List ==== For subscribe/unsubscribe and other general list information, please see http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sewis/wimilwau.htm ============================== To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237

    2. I would love to see those pictures too. My aunt born in 1901 MIGHT have worked at the phone co. but I know my cousin did in the 1940's. That's when we had 4 party lines and the operator said "Number Please". Our phone # was Hilltop 2026. Later, it became Hilltop 2-2026. Funny how those memories stick. Please share your pictures. 2. I sure would be interested in seeing those photo's..I have 4 family members who worked as telephone operators in Milwaukee during this time (not sure if its the Milwaukee Telephone Co. though or for another business). They were Elizabeth Roden, Katherine Rice, Agnes Booth and Elizabeth Rice. Sally > > Anybody on this list have ancestors who worked at the Milwaukee > Telephone Co. back in the 20's? 3. Hi Don, I don't have access to a Milwaukee death index. However, I looked on the WI death index and there aren't any people with the last name Milham listed at all. They figure that the index before 1907 only reported about 50% of those who died. 3. To the List: I have also had this virus stopped by my anti-virus program several times. Here is a link if you want to check to see if you have it and how to clean it up. Just be sure to print out and follow the directions for the type of system that you have. I have two different systems networked and had to do each one differently. Thankfully the anti-virus program quarantined the virus. Klez Cleaner: http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.klez.removal.tool.html A new, nasty little virus/worm, W32.Klez.gen@mm plus several variants, is making the rounds and has been upped to a category 4......which means it's wide spread. Please check your anti-virus programs regularly to see if there are updates. There are new viruses/worms coming out almost every day. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Harry G.
