Hi Bob I have hit a brickwall with my GRIMES family. They emigrated to Milwaukee from Gillingham in Kent about 1915. John was born in Pembrokeshire Wales, 1854. Wife Sarah in Staffordshire, 1857. There was also James,1879, Henry,1886, Nellie 1889, George,1892, Thomas1894 and Cyril 1900. I was told by my grandmother,(one of the above family that did not emigrate,) that Cyril was drowned at the (New Lido,) in 1916. I would greatly appreciate any help or advice you could give me. Best wishes, Harold Spurgeon, Auckland, New Zealand.
I suppose I am one of many saying you should go to the Roman Catholic Archdioses Cemetery listing but, just in case, no one did, it is at: Catholic Cemeteries | Genealogy but no Scaffido, but a lot of Scaffidi including Anthony. Bob

My names: Doyle, Mahoney, Dunn, Healy, Kolbeck, Brauer, Christnacht, Mittelstaedt, Bosch, Roberts.
My gr-grandmother was Augusta Wilhelmine Loeffler. She was born in Sachsen, Germany in 1868 and came to Milwaukee in the early 1890's. She already had a sister there who was married to a Schubert I believe. Augusta married Johann Schobert in 1893. Any of this ring a bell? Could SCAFFIDO have been a change from SCAFFIDI? I received this message from another researcher: A Charles Scaffidi from Brolo. My greatgrandfather was Carmelo Scaffidi from Brolo. I think he was born in the 1850's. My great-grandmother's name was Anna Faranda. My grandfather, Salvatore Militone Scaffidi was born in 1896 and came to Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1927. His brother Francesco (Frank) was also here. I will be traveling to Sicily in August for the first time and am wondering if you went to Brolo to try to track down any remaining relatives? This is a new adventure for me and I thought you might be able to share your successes. Thanks for the help I know Jeanette and Sam Scaffidi and their children. My father was Frank Scaffidi. He was not related to Sam but they worked together in the car business for many years. Their son, Mark's (and Kathy's children go to the same school as my children. I've never traced the family back but if both Scaffidi families came from Brolo maybe we are related somehow? What do you know about Charles Scaffidi...was that Sam's father? Scaffidi's buried in Catholic Cemeteries in Milwaukee: Anthony Scaffidi Antonia Scaffidi Antonio Scaffidi Dolores Scaffidi Eleonora Scaffidi Frank Scaffidi Frank P. My gr. grandfather, Johann Erhardt Schobert was born in Kirchenlamitz, Bayern, Germany in 1869 and arrived in Milwaukee in the late 1880's. He married Augusta Wilhelmine Loeffler, who arrived from Germany in the early 1890's, on 26 Oct 1893 in Milwaukee. They had three sons there, Walter in 1894, Arthur in 1895, Erhardt in 1896. He then left for Montana. Any info on his family would be very much appreciated. Many thanks, Linda Giles
