Elmer DeLong died at his home near Oxford, Marquette County, Wis., Friday evening, Jan. 30, 1903, at 8 o'clock, aged 26 years. His death resulted from appendicitis, having been ill but one week; an operation was performed on Wednesday previous to his death, by one of the best doctors from Portage. He resided in this city for many years, then went to Belvidere. Last spring he moved onto a farm near Oxford, and was doing nicely at farming. He carried an insurance of $1,000 in the Beavers. Besides a wife and an eight months old son, he leaves a brother Ernest of California, and a sister Mrs. Myra Hodges of Eldora, Iowa. Mrs. Hodges attended the funeral. Dr. L. B. Beebe of this city, an uncle of the deceased, arrived before he died and remained until after the funeral which was held Sunday. September 7, 1903, The Badger, p. 1, col. 4, Evansville, Wisconsin
