During the long period of his illness, the members of his family were constant in administering to every want that could contribute to his comfort. Though confined to his bed and for many weeks his physical nature had completely collapsed, he lived with no sustenance except medical tonics; and yet his tireless energy and strong mind never relaxed even to the moment when the pulse ceased, and the indomitable spirit was still, and the shadow of death rested on his brow. Mr. Daily was held in popular esteem in his community and was known by all as a loyal citizen, a sincere friend, and a friendly neighbor. John Daily was born in Ogdensburg, New York July 4, 1844. On October 16, 1867 he was united in marriage to Ellen Cotter of Hogansburg, New York. To this union were born eight children, all of whom survive him, except James, who preceded him in death many years ago. In 1875 he moved with his family to the town of Kingston, Wisconsin, where he resided up to the time of his death. He leaves to mourn his wife; two sons: Patrick of Chico, Calif., and John, at home; five daughters, Mrs. Anna Neolis, Butte, Montana, Mrs. Wm. Bremmer of Montello; Mrs. James Fallon of Ripon; Mrs. Edward Cov'e of Wisconsin Rapids; Mrs Glenn Treadwell of Friendship. Funeral services were held from St. John's church at Montello on Saturday, February 28th at ten o'clock a.m., with a Requiem High Mass with Rev. Father Velte officiating assisted by Rev. Father Koester, of Pardeeville, and Rev. Father Riorden of Milwaukee. Interment at St. John's cemetery.
