He was born on May 5, 1912 in the Township of Buffalo, Marquette County, WI, the son of Emil and Bertha (ZARBROOK, aka ZARBAUCH, ZARBUCK) Klawitter. He farmed his entire life and helped build the Power Plant in Merrimac, WI. He retired from Montello Products Company after working there for some 20 years. He married Margaret Dorothy Barron on November 26, 1932 in Packwaukee, WI. He was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Montello, WI. He is survived by his wife, Margaret of Montello; three sons, Henry (Dorothy) of Montello, Ronald (June) of Kingston, and Dennis (Bonnie) of Pardeeville; one daughter, Caroline (Wayne) Lammert of of Germantown; daughter-in-law Judy Klawitter of Cambria; brother Edwin of Montello; five sisters, Alma Cragin, Evaline Tagatz, and Adeline (Stewart) Cotter, all of Montello, Alice Stibb of Brooklyn, WI, and Edna (John) Erdman of Packwaukee; 21 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by by his parents; one son, Herbert Jr; two grandsons, Scott and Rodney Klawitter; three sisters, Ida Johnson, Leona Ingraham and Elsie McDougal. Funeral services were held on January 30, 1992 at 11 a.m. at St John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Montello. The Rev. Paul Kolander officiated with burial in the Montello City Cemetery. Pall bearers were his grandsons.
