LEONARD was born in Essex County, New York, on the 29th day of August, 1842. He died in Westfield, Marquette County, Wis., Oct. 24, 1889 at the age of 47 years, 2 months and 13 days. He came to Marquette county with his parents in 1849, and has been a resident of this County most of the time for forty years. As his home has been at or near Montello most fo the time, he was well known to all residents of this place. His life was one of kindness, and he will be long remembered by many who have had misfortune, sickness or death. He was a member of Montello Lodge No. 232, I. O. O. F., and followed out the principles of that order in doing deeds in secret. His sickness was not of long duration, and his death was unexpected and sudden. He leaves one son, two brothers, one a resident of Montello and the other living in Nebraska, besides many other relatives and a host of friends who mourn his loss. His funeral was conducted by the Odd Fellows, the services taking place in their hall and the M. E. church. The funeral sermon was preached by the pastor of the M. E. Church and a large number of relatives and friends followed his remains to their last resting place by the side of his father and mother and others of the family, in the family cemetery about three miles south of town.
