He had been confined to the hospital for the past nine days. Born July 22, 1873, he married Mrs. Eleanor Heinz in Poland on Mar. 17, 1900, a year before coming to this country. Prior to that he had served for five years in the bugle corps of the Russian Army's cavalry. On coming to the United States he settled in Peshtigo until buying land in the Hale Road area, where he farmed until his retirement nine years ago. His wife preceded him in death several years ago. Surviving are three sons, William, Adolph and Edwin; and three daughters, Mrs. Amelia Hein, Mrs. Alvina Dowson, and Mrs. Anna Devroy. One step-son, Jack Heinz, and two step-daughters, Mrs. Reinhold Behnke and Mrs. August Boettcher; a sister, Mrs. Louis Richter Sr., in addition to 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The remains were in state at the Berth and Rosenthal funeral home from Tuesday noon until shortly before the funeral hour. The funeral was conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Zion Lutheran Church with the Rev. Kurt Geyer officating. Burial was in Riverside cemetery.
