It used to be called Rat River, and was made a county governmental unit in 1920. The township remains very rural today and there are no incorporated communities within its bounds that I know of. It does, however, have the Peshtigo River, Strong Falls, Goodman County Park, McClintock Falls and McClintock County Park, to name a few of its lovely features.
