Hi all! I have been working really hard to get most of this site done to show for everyone. The American Local History Network had asked me to be webmaster for their WISCONSIN site. This site is a work in progress that will compile historical as well as genealogical information. I have some very interesting documents that have been donated by some very generous people on the Wisconsin lists - thanks! The home page is done with a little information about the history of how and when the state came into control of the US. From there you can go to the individual counties listings that will show you what information is available for each county. Some counties do not have any information available for them yet, so if you have anything to donate that would be great. I will also be adding information from the 1853 U S Gazetteer for all to read - some very interesting information on that! There will also be a Wisconsin Topics page that will be categorized into topiv specific area of research and history AND of course, genealogy. There is a section for any of you who have Wisconsin sites to submit them to be on the page. Just make sure that you let me know the submition is for the ALHN site not my personal site. OK - that's all I am going to tell you. You can see for yourself what a 'trip' this site will be. Go to http://www.usgennet.org/~alhnwius/WI_index.html and see what is there! You can also access this site through my links page on my personal home page My Wisconsin Family History Page. Hope to see you all there and hope that others can help make this site grow with information and resources! Hello again everyone! I have some very exciting news for all! I have been asked to take over the Wisconsin history/genealogy site on the American Local History Network ( http://www.rootsquest.com/~amhisnet/index.html )!!! I am sooo excited to have a new pet project in the makings. Right now there are just a few links and historical articles on the site. I would like to take the chance now to invite everyone that can to donate some piece of historical or genealogical information to the site. This is the first site on the internet to combine history and genealogy together. We do not want to take away from Rootsweb what makes it special. We are trying to add to the resources that are already available. Please take the time to stop by the site and give it the once over and tell me what you think. And also, please stick to the copyright laws - do not want to step on ANY toes! Let me know what you can donate to make the site as special as my Wisconsin Family History Page is. Thanks!!!! Hi everybody! One of my grandmother's sister's married (?Lyle?) VANVONDEREN, 9/23/1895, not sure where. I'm not sure if this was Mary or Philomena. My dad has a picture of the couple with the inscription on the back: To Mrs. Katie Touchette Compliments of Mr & Mrs A. B. VanVonderen September 23, 1895. Anybody know anything about the VANVONDERENs? Which Touchette girl married Lyle? And who the heck is Katie Touchette? ;-) Happy Hunting! Jill Have you posted this on the GEN-FR-L list? They are *very* helpful with lookups and information about French-Canadians. I've had very good experiences with them. Most of the Quebec information will come with Caliste & Delima's parents attached. ;-) Happy Hunting! Hello all! I am looking for anyone who is researching this last name. My great grandmother, Pauline Semrau was born in Germany in 1888 and in 1906, when she was 18, came to the US. Here she lived with her sister in Connecticut - I do not know her sisters name. She then married a Gustave Heiser and moved to other parts of the country. She died in Milwaukee, WI. May 16, 1949. Her obit states that she was preceeded in death by four brothers and sisters. ANYONE RESEARCHING THIS NAME PLEASE CONTACT ME ASAP!!!!!!! Thanks! Cindy Johnson
Hi all! Is there anybody who can do a lookup to see if some of my ancestors were married in Marinette Co? They lived in Brown & Oconto, but I can *not* find marriage records for them there. I've looked: I've looked at the courthouses, I've paid for the clerks to look, I've looked at UWGB-ARC, I've looked at Brown Co. Public Library, I've looked in Door Co., & Waupaca. Everybody tells me that if they lived in Brown or Oconto, but there's no record of the marriage, try Marinette. I guess everybody went to Marinette to get married. ;-) I know I can write the county, but I can't afford to pay again to find nothing. I'll be glad to pay for the records if I know they're there. So, can someone check for: Joseph TOUCHETTE + Ann(a) PORTER, bef.1873 (I know that should be Oconto, but...) Margaret TOUCHETTE + Fred LaPAIGE, abt. 1914 Margaret TOUCHETTE + Edward ASHLEY, 12/23/1918 Any help will be appreciated! Happy Hunting!
