I live in Marinette Co and I had to go to the Coffrin Library to get Declaration and/or naturalization copies. They aren't avaliable here. Hello friends -- I am looking for information on the surnames mentioned above. Am especially interested in finding info regarding my paternal grandmother's birth parents who were Charles Rafferty and Elizabeth Thompson. She was adopted by Wilbur Bradley and Lottie Clausson. She was born in Oconto, but grew up in Marinette. Gough, Collard lines are from Canada originally but moved to Menominee. Schomakers settled in Marinette in mid-1800s, possibly from Hannover Germany. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Micki Schomaker Jackson (recently moved back to Washington State - the beautiful Evergreen State!)

Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Wi/Marinette/487 Surname: MILLER, EVENSON ------------------------- My greatgrandparents, George and Louisa Evenson, died leaving behind three children. The oldest son, Edwin Evenson, left the area around 1895 after the death of his father. The two girls, Louise Amy, aka, Ellie or Ella and her sister, Georgie showed up on the 1900 census living with James and Ellen Miller. I would like to hear from any of Millers in Marinette who know of these Evenson children. Were they adopted? Did the Millers have children of their own after 1900? etc. Thanks, Julie

Hi Anne, Are the two obituaries you sent in about Faucetts by any chance members of your family? The reason I ask is I have been researching a Fezatte family that lived in the same area at about the same time period. The names are so similar sounding I started wondering about it. I know that the family I am researching has shown up in various documents as Fizette, Fisette, Fezette, Fezatts, Fezatt, etc. Where the family was asked for information on census records about literacy for the majority of the censuses they are recorded as unable to read and write. If they are part of your family I would love to hear from you and perhaps compare notes. If I remember right he was a retire policeman, and I am thinking his first name was Kurt, but my brother might remember better. I want to thank you all for all of the VERY positive responses. Many of the mail list administrators have stated it is all right to continue to post the reminders I am choosing not too. I did not solely join the county mail lists to place a weekly reminder on them. I felt I could contribute to others research not only by having a gathering place (weekly chat), but I have also answered many questions for many different researchers on the various county mail lists. I was hoping to help others. Should anyone need information on the Wisconsin Genealogy weekly chat-I have this information posted on the Waupaca County Website at the following address http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiwaupac/index.htm. I will will continue to post chat reminders on the Waupaca County mail list, WauShaOcon Mail List and Wisconsin Mail List. Hope you all break through those brick walls and find those lost ancestors-have a great week! I guess I didn't feel once a week email would unset anyone and that it would let the new people to the lists know of the weekly genealogy chat. So this will be the last notice of the weekly chats. I have repeated the instructions below and feel if anyone is interested in the weekly chat can print this out and refer to it for information. Hope to see you there Sunday night and happy hunting! Here are step by step instructions- 1-Go to the site http://huntsville.about.com/citiestowns/southeastus/huntsville/mpchat.htm 2-Click on Log on to chat in the upper left area of the screen. This takes you to another screen. 3-At this screen type in your name or a name you are going to use in the chat room in the space next to Nick name. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO TYPE ANYTHING ELSE IN ANY OF THE OTHER SPACES. Once you have typed in your name, click on OK, connect in the lower left. 4-You are in the chat room. Type your message in the lower left space where it says Type here and then hit enter. A few helpful hints. There is a list on the right side of the screen of all the people who are in the room. To enlarge the screen for easier reading click on the float button in the upper right hand corner. To enlarge the font, also for easier reading, in the space where you type your message type *chat fontsize 14, this will enlarge the font size.
