I've got some ancestors in Woodlawn too. Let me know what you find out on the picture-taking. Maybe someone would care to do us both at the same time. Posted on: Query Forum for Marinette County, WI Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Wi/Marinette/517 Surname: GLASS ------------------------- I have a transcription of the 1870 census for Peshtigo that lists a James Glass, age 35, laborer, born in Ireland. Other members of the household are Flora, 12; Albert, 9; Thomas, 5; and William, 2 (all born in Wisconsin). There does not appear to be a wife listed. In the report on the Peshtigo Fire compiled by Col. J.H. Leavenworth and published by the State Assembly in 1873, under the "List of the dead in the Sugar Bushes" is the line: "Glass, Flora, Belle and William, children of James." Hope this is helpful. -Deana Link: Marinette County WIGenWeb URL: <http://www.rootsweb.com/~wimarine>

Anne, These are several De Marce's listed in the Marinette, Wi.-Menominee, Mi. phone book. If you would like address's and/or phone numbers let me know. Joe Reines tnt@cybrzn.com
Micki in WA!!! Thanks so much for the lead---WA and CT are pretty much as far away as you get in the states! And I'll follow up on the Menominee, MI area DeMARCE's... Thanks again, Anne
Hi, Anne in CT! Consider looking at DeMarce in this geographical area if you haven't already. My mother's sister, Genevieve, married Robert DeMarce (whose family name was also spelled DeMarsh), in Menominee, MI. I realize this doesn't help much, but if I find more on the DeMarce (DeMarsh) line, I will let you know. Micki in WA state

Here's a brief overview of what's new at the Marinette County WIGenWeb site http://www.rootsweb.com/~wimarine * Seven (7) generations of the Brault family (first European settlers in the Coleman area). * Link to historical information on Marinette County railroads. * Link to neighboring Dickinson County, MI (In addition to the obvious link to Menominee, Michigan right across the river, lots of people with roots in Marinette find they also have folks in Kingsford, Iron Mountain, Quinessec and/or Norway.) * By request (thanks, Barb!) -- Current county road map for visiting researchers and tourists. (This is a BEAUTIFUL map, courtesy of Wisconline®.) Coming Soon: * More family lineages (Bourgeois, Durocher/Desrochers, Rocheleau). * Brief history of Menekaune (East Marinette, sometimes called "Fishtown"). * Peshtigo Times obituary index (this will be an ongoing project). * List of miscellaneous geographic place names -- useful finding aid for family who lived in "unpopulated" areas of the county. For quick links to What's New, go to http://www.rootsweb.com/~wimarine/new.html Please stop by and visit! Your feedback is welcome.
