Louis Polomis, 68, of route 2, Wausaukee, died Sunday at 2:04 a.m. at the Ida McVane Nursing Home at Crivitz. She had been ill eight months. The former Eleanor Bueatler was born July 2, 1896, at Oconto. She moved to Chicago in 1926 and resided there until 1951 when she came to Wausaukee. She was married to Mr. Polomis Dec. 5, 1952, at Wausaukee. Surviving with her husband are two daughters, Mrs. Pau1 Kozik of Hillside, Ill., and Mrs. Richard Bruna of Ridgeview, a sister, Mrs. Bertha Gilmer of Racine and six grandchildren. Friends may call at the Morasky funeral home at Wausaukee from 4 to 8 p.m. today. Services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in the Hennessey funera1 home at Berkeley, Ill. Burial will be in Eden Cemetery at Schiller Park, Ill.

Wausaukee Mrs. Caroline Polomis, 90, died at 5 a.m., Tuesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Michael Stajduhar. She had been in ill health for several years and suffered a stroke three weeks ago. The former Caroline Edlebeck was a pioneer resident of Wausaukee, and was born Aug. 22, 1866 in Bohemia. In 1883 she married Peter A. Polomis and the couple came to the United States in 1903 settling in Wausaukee. They operated a creamery for many years. Mr. Polomis died in 1927 and his widow lived with her daughter for the past 15 years. Survivors include seven sons, Louis, Sr., James, Anton and George, all of Wausaukee; Frank, Marinette; Joseph, Norway, Mich. and Charles, Milwaukee; two daughters, Mrs. Elmer (Mary) )Duquaine, Green Bay, and Mrs. Elizabeth Stadjuhar, Wausaukee; a sister, Mrs. Emma Jermac, Wausaukee; 26 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. A son, Peter, was killed in World War I, and two daughters and one son died in infancy. Rites will be held at the Morasky funeral home at 8:30 a.m., Saturday and in St. Augustines church at 9 oclock, conducted by he Rev. Fr. C. Tomczyk. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. Friends may call at the, funeral home after 7 p.m., Thursday. The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m., Friday

POLOMIS NORWAY Joseph J. Polomis, 54, of Norway, died Wednesday at Anderson Memorial Hospital here. Polomis was born Nov. 3, 1931, in Menominee. He moved here from Wausaukee in 1937 with his family. He was a member of St. Marys Church here. Surviving are his mother, Myrtle Polomis, and two sisters, Marie Bal and Sandra Ostwall, all of Norway. A brother, Norman, died previously. Friends may call today from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Miner Funeral Home. The Daughters of Isabella will recite the rosary at 6:30 p.m. Parish prayers will be said at 7. Prayers also will be said there Friday at 9:30 a.m. with services scheduled at 10 at the church. The Rev. Peter Carli will officiate. Burial will be in Norway Township Cemetery. A memorial fund for the American Cancer Society has been established.

Their son's name was Walter Henry Mayville born 1/3/1888 in Coldwater Township Michigan. I don't know anything about the family moving to Indiana. The only siblings I know he had were two sisters (Bell and Jenny?). He moved to Washington State and married Maude Galvin in 1916. I know he had a neice named Myrtle LeNir. I hope this helps.

My grandmother told me about her three brothers who emigrated to America in 1880-90. Her eldest brother Hans was born January 16,1858, Søren was born October 01, 1861, and her youngest brother Ole was born April 04, 1867. I don`t know much about these people, but my grandmother told me about Søren, who was tailor in Chicago. I have two pictures of Hans and Ole, and the photographer is G.W.Bauder Marinette. Wis. Looking for surviving members of the family of Carl WITT. >From the Marinette Eagle-Star Newspaper in Marinette, WI. 1938. His obituary reads: Carl Witt Succumbs in Home Sunday Evening; Rites Wednesday. Carl Witt, 80, of 1138 Daggett Street. Survivors are his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Otto Krutz, two stepsons, Henry and Albert Pruschinsky, a brother, Henry Witt, and three grandchildren, all of this city and two sisters in Poland. The remains were taken to the Drefahl funeral Home and will be returned to the family residence Tuesday afternoon. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 at the residence and at 2 o'clock in the First Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. H.C. Westphal will officiate and interment will be in Forest Home cemetery. This was my great grandmother's brother. I'm hoping to find more information about what became of the rest of the WITT family that stayed in Poland and was ousted to Germany. Do any of these names seem familiar to listmembers?
