Haines Rites Held Wausaukee--Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 10, at the First Presbyterian church in Wausaukee for Mrs. Theodore Haines, 71. Rev. Christian Land officiated at the 1:30 p.m. service. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery. Mrs. Haines died Friday afternoon, Oct. 5, at Marinette General Hospital. She was born Nov. 17, 1901 in Marinette. The former Hattie Ihler married Theodore Haines on Sept. 28, 1921 in Menominee, Mich. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star at Peshtigo and resided in Wausaukee since 1925. Surviving are her husband; two daughters, Mrs. James Ricketts of Springfield, Va., and Mrs. Michael Heymanns of Sheboygan; three brothers Fred, Howard (Barney) and George Ihler all of Marinette; one sister, Mrs. John Spettel of Marinette and four grandchildren. Pallbearers were Norman Smith, Carl Schroeder Jr., Robert Bastian, Louis Engleman, John Boshan and Fred Naud. Morasky Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

The former Hattie Ihler was born Nov. 17, 1901, in Marinette, and was married Sept. 28, 1921, in Menominee. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Wausaukee and of the Order of Eastern Star at Peshtigo. She had been a resident of Wausaukee since 1925. Surviving are her husband, two daughters, Mrs. James Ricketts of Springfield, Va., and Mrs. Michael Heymanns, Sheboygan; three brothers, Fred, Howard (Barney) and George Ihler, all of Marinette; a sister, Mrs. John Spettel of Marinette and four grandchildren. Friends may call at the Morasky funeral home in Wausaukee from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday and at First Presbyterian Church after noon on Tuesday. I am looking for Julia Laduron married to Francois Joseph Bouche. Emigrated to Door Co., Wi. in Feb. 1855. I think Julia was a sister to my gggrandfather who emigrated with his family to Door Co in 1856. His name was Maximillien Laduron. Among his childlren were Julie, Marie Antonette, Jule, Joseph, Gerard, Louis, Alexis Josephine and others. I just found this out and would like to find a connection. I will be going to the Door, Kewaunee, Marinette Counties to do searches in a few weeks. Will try to research Bouche name too. Could these people be their children or grandchildren?

Polomis, 83, route 2, Wausaukee, died Monday at his home. Mr. Polomis operated a masonry contracting business until his retirement three years ago. He was born Aug. 28, 1888, in Bohemia and came to the United States with his parents at the age of 16. His first wife, the former Clara Heintz died in 1949. He married the former Eleanore Bueatler in 1952. She died on Feb. 7, 1965. Survivors include three sons, Louis of Amberg, Fred of Spokane, Wash., and William of Wausaukee; two daughters, Mrs. Clarence DeGroot of Port Washington, and Mrs. Samuel Wiltshire of Coleman; four brothers, Anton and George of Wausaukee, Joseph of Norway, Mich., and Frank of Marinette; two sisters, Mrs. Elmer Duquaine of Green Bay and Mrs. Michael Stajduhar of Wausaukee; 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Friends may call at Morasky funeral home from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Final rites will be Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church. The Rev. John McLaughlin will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. A parish vigil will be held Thursday at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Malmstadt Dies Friday At Hospital Francis E. Malmstadt, 57, of 1305 Armstrong St., Marinette, died Friday afternoon at Theda Clark Hospital, Neenah, following a brief illness. He was born May 2, 1914, in Marinette and spent most of his life here. Mr. Malmstadt married the former Muriel Liska Dec. 28, 1937. He served in the Navy during World War II from 1942 to 1945. A graduate of Our Lady of Lourdes High School, Mr. Malmstadt starred on the basketball team there and was also active in local bowling leagues and in golfing. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Marinette, and Little River Country Club. He and his brother, Clayton, owned and operated Malmstadt Brothers Painting Company in Marinette. Survivors include his widow; and another brother Irvine of Menominee; five sisters, Mrs. Ed Matz, Mrs. Herbert Wickman, Mrs. Robert Fischer, all of Marinette; Mrs. Ed Bero of Menominee and Mrs. John Maloney of Green Bay. He had attended the former Lourdes High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He had worked for 10 years in Milwaukee returning to Menominee in 1967. He had worked for 5 years for Sam Komp Painters. He was self-employed as a painter for many years, retiring in 1979. He was a member of Holy Redeemer Church, Little River Country Club and the Silver Swingers at Little River. On April 26, 1941 he married the former Antoinette (Tony) Fischer in Marinette. Besides his wife he is survived by 1 son, Michael (Ginny), Menominee; 7 daughters, Kay (Richard) Mattsen, Oshkosh, Nancy (Edward) Streeter, California, Gail (Dennis) Brunelle, Cindy (Gary) Homa, Sue (James) Gressel and Brenda Malmstadt, all of Menominee, and Karen (Michael) Costello, Marinette; 4 sisters, Marge Matz and Ruth (Robert) Fischer, Marinette, Jean (Jon) Maloney, Green Bay and Arlyss Bero, Menominee; 21 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. 3 brothers, Clifford, Francis and Clayton preceded him in death. Polomis, 68, prominent Wausaukee businessman, died today at his home after suffering a heart attack. Mr. Polomis served as clerk of the village and was a plumbing and heating contractor in Wausaukee. For many years he also served as clerk of the school board. + + + He was born March 12, 1900, in Czechoslovakia and came to this country five years later with his parents. The family settled in Wausaukee. Mr. Polomis was a 1918 graduate of Wausaukee High School and earned a bachelor of science degree at Oshkosh State Normal. He taught mathematics and science at Ashland, Omro High Schools for three years. After teaching he returned to Wausaukee and became a co-owner in the family creamery business. For many years he served as an usher and commentator at St. Augustine Catholic Church where he also was a member of the Holy Name Society. H was a former member of the Knights of Columbus. He married the former Evelyn Spangler in 1929 at Wausaukee. She survives along with a son, James, of Boston, Mass.; a daughter, Mrs. John Dal Santo of Madison; two sisters, Mrs. Elmer Duquaine of Green Bay and Mrs. Michael Stajduhar of Wausaukee; five brothers, Louis, Anton and George of Wausaukee, Joseph of Norway, Mich.; and Frank of Marinette, and three grandchildren. Two brothers, Peter and Charles, preceded him in death. The body is at Morasky funeral home where arrangements will be announced.

He was born August 17, 191 in Marinette, residing here most of his life until moving to the Town of Athelstane several years ago. On March 25, 1941, he was married to the former Grace Wortner. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy. Prior to his retirement, he was a well known painter and decorator in this area. He was also an avid woodworking craftsman. Mr. Malmstadt was a member of the International Brotherhood of Painters and Allied Trades, Local 991. Surviving are his wife, 1 daughter, Vicki (Brian) Guay, of Marinette, 1 brother, Irvin, of Menominee, 5 sisters, Margaret Matz, of Marinette, Arlys Bero, of Menominee, Beatrice Wickman, of Marinette, Ruth Fischer, of Marinette, Jean Maloney, of Suamico and 4 grandchildren. She had been in ill health for the past five years and was hospitalized for the past four weeks. Mrs. Polomis, the former Laura E. Smiley, was born in Goodman in May, 1927. When she was four years of age she moved with her parents to Amberg~ She graduated from the Amberg High school in 1945 and on Dec. 7, 1949, she married Louis Polomis, Jr. in a ceremony in Chicago. Surviving besides her husband are her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Smiley of Amberg; four brothers, Melvin, James and Loren Smiley of Amberg and Robert in the US Navy stationed at Newport, Rhode Island; two sisters, Miss Violetta Jean Smiley of Milwaukee and Gloria at home; and her grandmother, Mrs. Bertha Cowie of Niagara. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday at the Amberg Presbyterian church at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Leland Rubesh officiating and burial will be in the Amberg cemetery. The remains will be in state at the Morasky Funeral home in Wausaukee from Wednesday at 2 p.m. until noon Thursday and thereafter at the church.

Death followed a long illness and she entered the hospital Monday. Mrs. Malmstadt had been an employe of the Eisendrath Glove Co., and later was alteration lady at Mabel's Dress Shop. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church. She was born Jan. 21, 1892, at Rosiere, Wis., and moved to Menominee as a child. On April 24, 1912, she was married to Mr. Malmstadt in St. Ann's Church. Following their marriage they moved to Marinette where she has resided since. Surviving with her husband are fours sons and five daughters. They are Clifford of Seattle, Wash., Francis and Clayton, Mrs. Edward Matz, Mrs. Robert Fischer and Mrs. Herbert Wickman, Jr., of Marinette; Mrs. Edward Bero and Ervin of Menominee and Mrs. John Maloney of Green Bay. Also surviving are three brothers, Wilber and Mervin Janquart of California, and Irvie Janquart of Menominee; a sister, Mrs. Frank Kowalski of Menominee, 22 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. The Rev. David Baeten will officiate at the 9 a.m., requiem mass Saturday in St. Joseph's Church. Burial will be in the Forest Home Cemetery. Born in Crystal Falls, Mich., on December 7, 1889, he came to Marinette as a child and had lived here since. He married the former Julia Janquart on April 24, 1912, at St. Ann Church Menominee. She died in June, 1964. Mr. Malmstadt was self employed as a painter and decorator. Surviving him are four sons, Clifford of Seattle, Wash., Francis and Clayton of Marinette and Irvin of Menominee; five daughters, Mrs. Edward Matz, Mrs. Herbert Wickman and Mrs. Robert Fischer, all of Marintette, Mrs. Edward Bero of Menominee and Mrs. John Maloney of Green Bay. Polomis, 52, of Lisbon, Iowa died Sunday, June 16 at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Miner Funeral Home. A former Norway resident, Mr. Polomis was born Dec. 29, 1932 to Mrs. Myrtle Polomis and the late Joseph Polomis in Wausaukee. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict. Surviving are his wife, Alice; three sons, Taylor of Minneapolis, David of Ann Arbor and Andrew, at home; a daughter, Julie, at home; his mother and a brother, Joseph of Norway, two sisters, Marie Bal and Sandra Ostwall, also of Norway, several nieces and nephews.
