    2. I have a death notice that appeared in the paper 23 mar 1940. Is this the same one? There was also a notice of the estate filing 26 March 1940. If this is the same, I will be happy to scan and e-mail to you. I also have some info on Larocque - Charlotte Larcocque, etc. Valarie Gray Marinette, WI jaga@core.com

    1. [WIMARINE] New Marinette County Message Board
    2. Deana Hipke
    3. ATTENTION: Marinette County Researchers I just wanted to let you know that Rootsweb/Ancestry.com has replaced the GenConnect message boards with a new system. All the messages that were posted to the GenConnect boards are now located on the new board. I have placed links to the new board on the Marinette County WIGenWeb pages under Biographies, Obituaries, and Surname Queries. Cut and paste this link to your browser to view the new board: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=board&r=rw&p=localities.united-20-stat es.states.wisconsin.counties.marinette&o=1&maxrows=25&dir=next They are still working out some of the "bugs" in the system and refining things according to the requests of some of us board administrators, but things should be working soon. When the system is working at full capacity, you will again see board postings forwarded to this list via a "gateway," just as you did with the former GenConnect system. Some of the main features of the new system are: 1) Where Marinette County used to have separate boards for Biographies, Obituaries, and Queries, there is now just one board for all Marinette County data. A drop-down list allows you to classify the type of posting (obit, bio, will, etc.) 2) The link to the Marinette County site and contact information for the board administrator is accessible via the Admin Info link. 3) The new boards support message threading with an Expand/Collapse feature. If you click on 'Expand,' all of the messages in the thread will open and you can scroll through the list without having to open each message individually. Click on 'Collapse' and you will return to viewing just the subject lines in a list. 4) When you click on the name of the message submitter the system will bring up all other messages that person has submitted to any Rootsweb or GenConnect board. 5) You can now add attachments to your postings. This will allow you to add GEDCOM files, or graphics in .JPG or .GIF format. Deana Hipke Marinette County WiGenWeb Coordinator http://www.rootsweb.com/~wimarine

    1. [WIMARINE] Re: surnname HUGUET/DENIS
    2. Steven, I'm assuming you are David's son and I probably met you at your dad's funeral. I'm Nancy LANG Schlafke, (Aunt of Lloyd Lang III, who asked you about Huguet Denis. Ten years ago, I did a genealogy of Grandma Mary DENIS, for the Denis reunion. There were a lot of gaps when Margaret DENIS LETTS printed her book. She was in a hurry to finish it before one of her relatives died. At the time I was bookkeeper at St John the Evangelist in Green Bay where many of the DENIS and HUGUET weddings, baptisms anf funerals took place, so I was able to add many names to Margaret's book, many of them infants who died within a short time of their birth. I am currently using two genealogy programs, Family Tree Maker and Brothers' Keeper. If you would like a gedcom file from either of either the HUGUETs or DENIS, let me know. You also may have more info on the HUGUETS that is not ten years old that you could share with me. Tour great-grandfather Arsene was my mother's brother. He was the oldest child who lived > a year and my mother, Genevieve was the youngest.

    2. Joyce Wolske
    3. I'm trying to find Peter Bernhart Akre and his wife Inger who came to the US in 1867. Peter died 11 Aug 1882 in Pound, Wisconsin and his wife died about 1893. They also had a son Albert who died about 1921 in Pound. This info was from my grandmother. I have not come across any proof. I haven't been able to find them on the 1880 census. I'm not sure I can even identify Pound on the census. Any ideas? Are there cemeteries in the area that I should begin to correspond with? Thanks for any help.

    2. Linda Loser
    3. I am one of the look-up volunteers for Marintte Co. I have had trouble getting my e-mail the last couple of days. Someone sent me a huge message, almost 10,000 bytes, and locked up my mailbox. I called my provider about it and somehow instead of deleting that message only it appears they deleted all my messages. So, if you wrote me and didn't receive a reply you will have to contact me again and PLEASE no attachments. Linda

    3. Posted on: Query Forum for Marinette County, WI Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Wi/Marinette/10628 Surname: ------------------------- Yes: Obviously I'm familiar with HUGUET as my great grandfather Arsene was the son of Alphonse HUGUET and Mary DENIS. Alphonse (in brief) came from southern France sometime after the Franco-Prussian War. My grandfather, Marcel was born in Niagra, Wisconsin which I believe is pretty close to Marinette. He later moved to Green Bay with Arsene. I don't know if the latter's first wife and Marcel's mother Anna (nee Berendsen) had died in Niagra or in Green Bay. We could possibly be cousins. I've heard of HUGUET's living up your way but never got any answers as to whether there is a connection to the Green Bay clan. However, as I write this e-mail I recall that one of my great-aunts was married to a Lang. I'll check my copy of the Alphonse Huguet/Mary Denis lineage.

    3. Posted on: Query Forum for Marinette County, WI Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Wi/Marinette/10625 Surname: Deau, D'Aoust, Grandeau ------------------------- Since my original posting, I have discovered that my grandmother's family has been living with a phonetic spelling (family pronounces it as "Doe")of the original French name, D'Aoust. The D'Aoust ancestor came to Canada in the late 1600's. A researcher in Canada, Bob D'Aoust, has spent over 10 years in his search for the original settler(s). He has published a very large book, and it appears that there are a lot of distant relatives to be found in Canada, as well as the U.S. My gr-gr-grandfather was Jean-Baptiste D'Aoust. He and his wife Angele (Angela/Angelique) Brabant came to Wisconsin in the early 1860's. On various documents, their name is spelled Deau as well as Deaux. Some descendants in the U.S. even spell their surname as Doe. Thanks for anyone who read this or contacted me about it!
