Mrs. Groth, who is the mother of August Groth of this city, during her early married life lived in Wausau. She was born in Pommerania, Germany, May 12, 1835, and was married in her native land to Louis Groth seventy-six years ago. In 1852 the couple came to America, settling in this city where Mr. Groth for a short time followed his occupation of tailor. Later they moved to a farm in the town of Berlin. After the death of her husband in 1904, Mrs. Groth moved to Merrill to reside with her daughter, Mrs. Albert Borchardt, with whom she still makes her home. Her other children in addition to Mrs. Borchardt and Mr. Groth, are William Groth of Minneapolis, Mrs. William Krueger of Merrill, Mrs. John Stueber of the town of Berlin and Mrs. Julius Hasley of Milwaukee. The anniversary event was celebrated with a very pleasant family gathering Sunday at the Borchardt home.
