Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. in St. John's Lutheran Church at Mattoon. The Rev. Lawrence Buuck will officiate and burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Mattoon. The body will be at the Kopitzke Funeral Home in Birnamwood after 3 p.m. Saturday and until Sunday noon, and from 1 p.m. Sunday until time of services. Mrs. Marten was born March 5, 1876, at Pella. She was married there Dec. 26, 1899, to Charles Marten, who died Feb. 12, 1938. Survivors include three sons, Alex, Shawano, and Charles and Edwin, both of Mattoon; a daughter, Mrs. Fred Rusch, Shawano; two brothers, August Jesse, who lives in California, and Gust Jesse, Clintonville; a sister, Mrs. Louise Palmquist, Shawano; 17 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren.
