Funeral services for August W. Fechtner, 78, Merrill, who died early Thursday at Holy Cross Hospital in that city after a week's serious illness, were held this afternoon at Trinity Lutheran Church in Merrill. The Rev. G. E. Kohn officiated and burial was in the Merrill Cemetery. Mr. Fechtner was born June 10, 1879, in Germany and at the age of 13 years accompanied his parents to America. During the early 1930s he lived for several years in Wausau and was employed in the sash and door industry. He married Flora Wendorf June 21, 1902. She died last July. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. E. A. Peterman and Mrs. Gus Saeger, Merrill; a son, Reno Fechtner, Laona; a brother, Albert Fechtner, Merrill; three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
