    3. I was at the Marathon County Court House about a month ago to work on marriages and births. The information contained in the books depends on when the marriage took place. I have a marriage from 1876 which contained brides/grooms name and information only about the groom. No parents listed for either. Very limited in 1876. My next marriage was 1881 and it was more detailed. Parents, occupation, residence and where bride and groom were born. By 1888 we have all of the above plus type of marriage, where it took place and the names of witnesses. Most of the earlier marriages are in large ledger type books and are written by hand, not certificates like the modern ones. I hope this helps your search.
