I have a copy of her book "Life in the Fourth Grade". The bio on the back cover says she was born in Alexandria Minnesota. She autographed my copy of her book in 1988 and I believe she died shortly thereafter. I don't recall hearing that she ever married but I could be wrong. If you think this is the person you're looking for let me know and I'll do further checking.
